The Ray Mears Folding Buck Saw Case is, as the name suggests, a protective carrying case designed to house the classic Ray Mears Folding Buck Saw, with an additional sleeve to hold your axe. Produced in an extremely durable combination of canvas and leather, this case ensures that your tools are kept securely stowed for easy transportation.

This case is included as standard with each purchase of our Ray Mears Folding Buck Saw; however, early editions did not include the additional axe sleeve or leather shoulder guard, so we now offer this case on its own, either to update your original case, to be used as a spare, or to house other, similarly-sized tools.

The axe sleeve has been designed specifically to house either the Gransfors Ray Mears Wilderness Axe, or the classic Gransfors Small Forest Axe. However, it will of course accommodate other axes or tools of a similar size.

Made from an extremely sturdy, waterproof canvas with leather reinforcements, the Buck Saw Case comes fitted with a shoulder strap of 550 Nylon Para Cord. This strap features a leather shoulder guard for comfort, and allows you to wear the case across your back, leaving your hands free to carry your firewood back to camp.

All of our leather and canvas goods are hand-made in-house by Woodlore's resident leather worker, a craftswoman with over three decades of experience. All leathers are vegetable tanned with full, natural grain, and are hand-dyed in house to the unique Woodlore colour.

The case is of good quality, however it was mentioned on your site that a 24 inch buck saw would fit into it. I found that the 24 inch Agawa Boreal did not fit in it because of its length. Thereafter I baught the Agawa Canyon Boreal21 with shorter length, and it did fit.

Thank you for taking the time to review your purchase. I am sorry to hear that the intended 24" folding saw did not fit in the case. Woodlore does not suggest that saws of any specific size will fit in the case beyond the Ray Mears Folding Bucksaw for which it was originally designed and is sadly no longer available; we do suggest that it will accommodate tools of a similar size but as you have found the only way to determine fit, is to try it. Whilst other customers do report that the case is suitable for their 24" folding bucksaws it appears this is usually a snug fit. Seems like great quality and a super convenient way to carry my saw and axe. It IS a little too snug with a GB small forest axe and Esker folding bucksaw however I expect it will stretch a bit and fit nicely after a short break-in period.

Well made product. While I don’t have a RM buck saw it takes my 24” saw and GB small forest axe albeit snuggly! I bought this for canoe trips and safe carriage while leading scouts.

Perfectly fits my Gränsfors Scandinavian Forest Axe and my own creation (wooden) saw. I have just tried to fit and hang over my shoulder. Never used, but it feels wonderful. It can be also easily attached to a backpack side.

I have had the original Ray Mears Buck Saw for many years, and the original case only accommodated the saw and served more as a protective sleeve than a carrying case, so I opted to upgrade to this newer style. This case has the same high quality finish that I have come to expect from their other leather and canvas work. It fits the buck saw and Wilderness Axe beautifully. The paracord shoulder strap has a small leather pad which should prevent it digging in, which is a problem highlighted by other reviewers. Overall another superb piece of Woodlore/Ray Mears gear!

Very well made, it takes my Buck Saw and Small Forest Axe without any issues. I wouldn’t want to use the paracord strap for any length of time but it serves the purpose. The case straps easily to the side of my Fjallraven Stubben pack. Very pleased, to date I can’t fault Woodlore for their service and responsiveness.

The Ray Mears Folding Bucksaw Case is of premium quality, and now a vital part of my kit. It holds my axe and folding bucksaw perfectly. The canvas is very strong grade and a lovely shade of green. As for the leather, it is beautifully made with the best stitching and logos on. A must have kit essential.
