The Ray Mears Leather Strop is designed to remove the fragile "wire" edge that forms during sharpening and leave your knife perfectly honed and razor sharp.
The Ray Mears leather belt has long been our outdoor teams preferred tool for stropping knives and axes but it is not always convenient when frequent stropping is required. This strop is cut from the same sturdy British leather that we use to make our belts but left undyed. The grain side, complete with all its natural scars and markings sports the Ray Mears logo and the ‘snowshoe’ motif. The flesh side of the leather is levelled and buffed to provide the ideal stropping surface for your Bushcraft tools.
This product has been lovingly created by our in-house leather worker with the Woodlore outdoor team. Each one is cut by hand and the edges are bevelled and burnished to provide a pleasing and very useful addition to your kit.
The leather strop measures 5 cms wide and 76 cms long including the handle and comes with 1.5 metres of brown para-cord to allow you to tie it to a convenient tree branch or hook. The cord also serves as a neat means of securing your strop wrapped up to stow in your kit. The brass eyelet protects both the leather and cord in use and will not rust.
Do not apply wax to your strop as it will clog the surface but if the leather feels dry apply a leather oil to moisturise the fibres without clogging.
