The Ray Mears Leather Strop is designed to remove the fragile "wire" edge that forms during sharpening and leave your knife perfectly honed and razor sharp.

The Ray Mears leather belt has long been our outdoor teams preferred tool for stropping knives and axes but it is not always convenient when frequent stropping is required. This strop is cut from the same sturdy British leather that we use to make our belts but left undyed. The grain side, complete with all its natural scars and markings sports the Ray Mears logo and the 'snowshoe' motif. The flesh side of the leather is levelled and buffed to provide the ideal stropping surface for your Bushcraft tools.

This product has been lovingly created by our in-house leather worker with the Woodlore outdoor team. Each one is cut by hand and the edges are bevelled and burnished to provide a pleasing and very useful addition to your kit.

The leather strop measures 5 cms wide and 76 cms long including the handle and comes with 1.5 metres of brown para-cord to allow you to tie it to a convenient tree branch or hook. The cord also serves as a neat means of securing your strop wrapped up to stow in your kit. The brass eyelet protects both the leather and cord in use and will not rust.

Care: Do not apply wax to your strop as it will clog the surface but if the leather feels dry apply a leather oil to moisturise the fibres without clogging.

JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO FINISH OFF MY BLADES. THIS IS MY SECOND PURCHASE AS THE FIRST IS IN MY BUG OUT BAG. IT MAKES SENSE TO HAVE A DEDICATED LEATHER STOP INSTEAD OF REMOVING MY LEATHER BELT; SAVE TIME,ENERGY & IS MORE EFFICIENT. This is a wonderful piece of kit. I know I could use a belt but I like the idea of a dedicated strop. It's very well made, like other Ray Mears leather goods. Easy to use and it rolls up neatly to store with the rest of the sharpening kit.

Very nice piece of kit, I have a few items made by Becky and they are all first class. The strop is a great length for the final honing of each side of a blade, the leather is such that it provides a razor edge, the anchor lace works well either at home in the kitchen fixed on a door handle or around a tree or post etc when out in the field. The hand grip is well shaped, the edge trim adds to the overall aesthetics of the item, very Scandinavian. Puts a great edge on my Mercator knife. Delivery as always very efficient. Overall 5 stars.
