The Gransfors Bruks Ceramic Axe Grinding Stone is the perfect tool for repairing everyday wear and tear to the cutting edge of your axe or knife. It comprises of a hockey puck-shaped stone with two separate sharpening surfaces; a coarse side for repairing heavy wear, and a fine side for regular sharpening.

With its dual-grain sharpening surfaces, this is the only Axe Stone you will need when in the field. It makes the perfect partner to the Gransfors Bruks Axe File, which should be used first when heavier damage has been inflicted to the cutting edge.

The ceramic composite of this stone provides strength and durability, while the bevelled edge helps to prevent chipping. Two thirds of the stone's thickness comprises of the finer, 600 grit side, as this is usually the surface that is used and thus worn down most. The stone comes in a protective rubber case, which also helps to keep the stone in place while in use.

This particular stone is a manmade alternative to the Gransfors Bruks Original Axe Stone which, due to a lack of natural materials, is no longer available. By way of extensive testing, this ceramic version has proven to be just as effective as - if not superior to - its predecessor.

The Gransfors Bruks Ceramic Axe Grinding Stone can be used dry, but it is recommended that you use it with a small amount of water. After sharpening your axe, Woodlore recommend the use of Ice Bear Camellia Oil to protect the blade from rust and corrosion.

Absolutely amazing for your axe, it's so small, this is all you’ll need in the bush to keep your axe in shape, unless you take out a large lump then you made need the file, but for me this is fantastic.

This is a great sharpening stone. Pocket size and easy to use. It's useful for blade maintenance in the field or if a quick repair is needed. I may buy a second one at some point.

I had cause to use this stone on my brand new small forest axe after chipping the cutting edge slightly on a stone in my carving block. I used this stone to follow up a bahco bastard cut file and got great results right away with not too much previous experience. My axe is now cleanly slicing thin paper and feels sharper and with a finer finish on the bevel than when delivered. The stone doesn’t require pre-soaking and is ready to go with a quick dip in water (as demonstrated to me by Ray Mears on an experience day).

A good quality double sided sharpening/grinding stone. I particularly like the way it fits in the hand and comfortable to use. As always from Gransfors, it's not cheap but I believe worth it.
