Ray Mears Leather Crooked Knife Sheath

The Ray Mears Leather Crooked Knife Sheath has been designed specifically to house the Ray Mears Crooked Knife.

With its deep welt and curved shape this sheath perfectly accommodates the shape of the Ray Mears Crooked Knife, protecting the blade from damage and ensuring safe transport and storage. The sheath sports the Ray Mears ‘snowshoe’ logo and secures by means of the matching metre long leather thong provided.

The body is cut from a single piece of 3mm thick leather, folded around a shaped, double layer welt and hand-stitched with a waxed and braided polyester thread. The edges are bevelled and dyed a dark brown to match the thread before being burnished to give the high standard of finish you expect from our leatherwork.

This sheath provides a more secure and elegant means of protecting your blade, yourself and your other equipment than alternative, DIY methods.

Choose from right or left handed versions to match your Ray Mears Crooked Knife. To secure the sheath, bind the long end of the leather thong tightly around the upper part of the sheath where it cups the whipped section of the knife handle (as shown). We favour use of a surgeons knot to secure the two ends of the thong.

All of our leather and canvas goods are hand-made by Woodlore's resident leather worker Becky Brewster, a craftswoman with over three decades of experience. The leather used in this bag is vegetable tanned with full, natural grain and hand-dyed in house to the unique Woodlore colour.
