Ray Mears Binocular/Camera Harness

Weight: 118 g         8 reviews
The Ray Mears Binocular and Camera Harness is an invaluable accessory for those heading outdoors with optical equipment. Made from supple elastic with a central leather back piece, the harness holds your optics securely against your chest until needed, reducing the shock and vibration equipment is often subjected to when carried swinging from a standard neck strap. The harness allows you to move quickly and quietly with both hands free, helping you to negotiate tricky terrain without the risk of hitting your optics on branches or catching on undergrowth as you go.

The leather back piece is cut from naturally tanned full grain bridle butt in Woodlore’s Rich Brown colour and sports the Ray Mears ‘snowshoe’ logo. The soft brown elastic straps hug your binoculars or camera close to your chest while not in use but have enough 'give' to allow you to lift your optics for use, while still being securely attached. Black nylon fittings with a matt finish prevent noise and reflection: four sliders offer easy adjustment of the elastic straps to get the best fit for all body sizes and swivel snap hooks couple quickly and easily to your equipment. Two sets of small black split rings and miniature cable ties are provided, allowing you to have two pieces of equipment prepared and ready for attachment to your harness.

An ideal piece of kit for stalking, wildlife and bird watching, and nature photography, it is also useful for park rangers, gamekeepers and many other outdoor occupations.

All of our leather and canvas goods are hand-made in England by Woodlore's resident leather worker Becky Brewster, a craftswoman with over three decades of experience. The leather used in this product is vegetable tanned with full, natural grain and hand-dyed in house to the unique Woodlore colour.   Excellent harness that keeps my binoculars close to my chest but ready to use. Simple but effective design. I fitted the splitrings directly to the binos and didn't use the tie wraps. Really good product that is a lot cheaper than some of the others on the market.

Absolutely love this method of carrying my binoculars. The elasticated straps are very comfortable and hold the binoculars in when not in use but are also firm enough to help holding the glasses stable when viewing - neat little fittings set supplied with sturdy little rings for attaching - a little bit fiddly to setup well initially but once done they need little maintenance taking them on and off. Convenient and functional design.

I must admit I chose another brand of harness over this one at first. It was a well known outdoors company who produced one that covered the binoculars. I really didn't get on with it for many reasons so tried this harness and I really wish i'd chosen it earlier! The harness holds my binos close to my chest which doesn't hang low or bounce when moving quickly or stalking. The elastic is good quality (better than the other brand) and the clips are tough plastic which look like they'll last forever. Overall I'm extremely happy with this product and think it is well priced too. Thanks!

Keep it short. Got a camera, binoculars etc. Get one! You won’t go wrong.

I bought two of these at the same time, one for me and one for my nephew. They fit well and do what they are designed to do. I'm only giving it four star for two reasons. I think for the price of them the hooks which hold the binocular/camera should be metal clips (not plastic) and I would have like the elastic straps to be of a little firmer elasticity (only because I think the elasticity may loosen and stretch if they get wet or over time with use - I may be wrong, I do hope so). Don't get me wrong they are nice and the quality of the craftsmanship is perfect and I would recommend them to anyone. As for the service, it was unbelievable. I order on my phone on the north coast of Cornwall at about midday and they arrived the next morning. Thankyou.

Product fine but no instructions, just a bag of tie wraps and split rings with the harness and also this was a present so just being in a clear plastic bag is a bit sloppy. Would have been nice to be in a reusable nice looking RM branded pouch.

A great way to carry your camera or binoculars, it stops them swinging around if carried around the neck and keeps your hands free for other tasks. Very practical and useful.

Well made product. Allows easy use and stops binoculars bouncing and sliding around while you're moving about.
