Woolpower Ullfrotte Original Long Johns with Fly - 400g - Green

  Very pleased so far. Worn for a couple of days birdwatching and some walking, with lots of standing and sitting around in temperatures around freezing. I'm around a 34 inch waist, 5ft 8, perfect fit.

  Bought the large as a present for my partner and he said they’re excellent quality and fit perfectly. He’s 6ft and the leg length is spot on. He would definitely recommend these long johns.

  Really warm long John's These are well worth the investment. I might get another pair of woolpower garments for layering in winter when I'm not active. They are expensive but I've used other brands and been cold and miserable so the price is worth it for me.

  Absolutely fantastic base layer! I used both the 200g and the 400g Long Johns from Woolpower on a recent expedition to the Arctic and they were both absolutely first class. I found that the 200g kept me warm enough to be comfortable, but also allowed me to run cold enough to not sweat excessively, a valuable dual benefit in such low temperatures. The 400g will stand up to anything with a decent set of trousers. I found that in an environment without clothes washing facilities it is perfect for me, due to the ease of airing out. I took x1 400g pair of Long Johns with me and they came into their own when the Mercury dropped to almost -40. I also had no problems with maintaining good personal hygiene. It would have been an entirely different story with synthetic base layers. I am thrilled with this product and will be hard pressed to find anything I prefer any time soon. The sizing guide/fit is accurate and allows for air to be trapped close to the body without being too baggy and cumbersome. The Long Johns were paired up to great effect with the Thorlos extreme cold socks and I had no issues with tight spots or restriction when the socks were work over the top of the Long Johns. Zero itchiness - 100% comfort. Top drawer!

  Bought for heat retention while out in the British winter, worn next to skin with waterproof leggings over the top they, are warm and comfortable. I used to buy cheaper thermals thinking they were all the same, they are not, I won't make that mistake again. These Merino wool products are expensive and I wondered whether the Woolpower garments would be worth the outlay, all I was looking for was to stay warm and dry on cold days, they do it very well. I'm very pleased with all the clothing I've purchased from Ray Mears Bushcraft. They are worth the money but I must be honest and report that I have two places in the crutch of my long johns where the fabric is beginning to separate after only three weeks of wearing. Nobody sees them, their underwear, but disappointing all the same.

  As someone who is intolerant of wool, I can't wear these garments next to my skin. However, they are just fine and work superbly over my existing base layers . For this reason I would recommend these as a mid layer (rather than the 200g Ullfrotte base layers) for anyone who is sensitive to wool. Wonderfully warm but thin enough to layer under another mid layer or to enhance the insulation of a sleeping bag. A great addition to my kit, which takes up very little space. Thank you Woodlore for making these available in the UK.

  I do a lot of birding and photography so there is a lot of standing around in the cold. These are a denser weave than the 200g (which are excellent in themselves). I have medium 200g which are a great fit so I went for medium in the 400g and found them a bit tighter around the quads. However, despite the tight fit they are exceptionally warm as under trousers and the tightness has not restricted movement to date. They are noticeably warmer than the 200g so are best used in very cold conditions. Excellent construction and a quality feel to them as expected. Recommended highly.
