The Ray Mears Cobra Buckle Webbing Belt has been designed as an everyday outdoor belt built around AustriAlpin’s world renowned Cobra Quick Release buckle.

The heavyweight 45mm wide polyamide webbing has been chosen to offer a good balance of flexibility whilst being sturdy enough to carry your bushcraft gear and work well with our range of Fjallraven trousers. The Ray Mears snowshoe logo is heat imprinted onto a discreet label made from Alcantara synthetic suede in a colour to complement the brass lugs of the buckle.

The AustriAlpin Cobra buckle is made in the Stubai Valley of the Tirol Mountains, Austria with the canvas and fabric parts constructed in house by Woodlore using military grade materials. The frame of this buckle is constructed from machined aluminium alloy finished in a Coyote Brown KTL coating with AustriAlpin’s patented brass quick release mechanism. This buckle cannot be released whilst under tension and one sided release is near impossible making it extremely secure but quick to release by depressing both lugs. With the buckle weighing in at 60g it feels as sturdy as it looks and bears the proud makers famous markings.

The free end of the belt can be completely removed from the adjustable, male part of the buckle to allow for easy threading through trouser belt loops and gear. The belt can be adjusted within its 15cm range of fit by easing the strap through the male part of the buckle.

The belt can be hand washed in warm soapy water and air dried. Whilst all the materials used to make this belt are incredibly strong, please bear in mind that the finished product is not designed to bear the wearer’s weight.

These belts are are made by Woodlore's resident leather and canvas worker Becky Brewster, a master craftswoman with over thirty years of experience.

A very well made buckle but the belt fabric material is painful for me to touch and digs in. It is hard material and military grade with no flex. For someone overweight this belt might work but not for someone slim. The buckle is very well-made and will last a lifetime which is a waste of money. This belt sadly wore out by late mid 2025 at the point I needed so if I wanted to slightly tighten it it just went back to the slightly loose position. I reached the point where I couldn't cope anymore it was driving me mad the pain and the fact I was not able to adjust it to the right point on the belt. To be fair to Woodlore most are tightening their belts as we loose weight with the cost of living crisis and rewards of a retarded population voting for Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson, eating less whilst everything else goes up in price including basic clothing items by an extraordinary amount since the pandemic. So after being ill affected by this belt for too long in a nightmare position of years long voluntary work caring for my elderly disabled mother on a universal credit income I asked Claude.ai for help and was directed to the Arcade Atlas belt.

My wife bought this for my birthday, I wanted a non leather belt, something which is comfortable and functional. I ended up telling her the wrong size, but actually due to the great adjustability of this belt is fits incredibly well. The buckle is well made, easy to lock and open. I was worried that it would be quite a bulky buckle but not at all, it’s incredibly comfortable. The best belt that I have ever owned, really like the buckle, wish that the site had this in different colours as would definitely buy another one
