Fjallraven Vidda Pro Ventilated Regular Trousers - Dark Olive

Brand: Fjallraven
Weight: 565 g         11 reviews
Fjallraven Vidda Pro Ventilated Regular Trousers are traditional, robust trekking trousers made from the G-1000 Eco fabric, designed for year-round trekking, bushcraft and other outdoor activities. Building on the best-selling Vidda and Barents Pro models, these are seriously rugged trousers with improved ventilation possibilities. This model also features a slightly slimmer fit that still gives great freedom of movement.

The unique feature of the Vidda Pro Ventilation Trousers is the generous ventilation openings from the hips to the knees. They will make for a great companion in the warmer weather.

Forming a fundamental part of Fjallraven's 'Trekking' range, the Vidda Pro Ventilated Trousers feature pre-shaped knees for ease of movement, reinforced double layers of fabric over the knees for durability, and six practical pockets, including map and knife pockets. Each leg ending is finished with detachable strap adjustments and boot hooks.

The Vidda Pro Ventilated Trousers are mostly made from Fjällraven's classic G-1000 Eco material. This densely woven fabric is a blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton, making the material windproof and outstandingly hardwearing. It is also water-resistant thanks to an impregnation of Greenland Wax, which can be reapplied when necessary throughout the life of the product. This high-strength fabric also wicks moisture away from the body, making the Vidda Pro Ventilated Trousers ideal for active use in the outdoors all year round. The crotch gusset is made from a second material which will stretch for comfort and freedom movement.

Purchased these trousers as I work as a gardener so wanted some trousers that would take knee pads to look after my joints as I get older. I'm 6'1' and the regular length fits well however, when kneeling I found that I was resting on the lower part of the knee pads . I have spoken to Fjallraven who have confirmed that the longer leg trousers have the knee pads located 2.5cm lower down the trousers, so I would probably order the longer legs going forwards. The trousers themselves are really well made and designed well. The thigh pockets are positioned so that any contents do not get in the way and as a bonus I found that the poppered loop, located just above the right hand thigh pocket, neatly secures my secateurs holster in the pocket for handy access. I have only waxed the seat and the lower front and it does a good job of keeping the thick of the water off. My body temperature tends to operate on the warmer side of normal, so I usually wear shorts 365 days of the year. These trousers are however not too warm and the vents are a real bonus if you start to over heat. Overall a great buy, even though they are more expensive than similar trousers like the revolution race pants. Had the knee pad pockets been located a little lower then these trousers would have received 5 stars. If you are never going to fit knee pads, I would say that the regular length trousers are fine for someone of my height, but if you are, I would go for the long leg.

These Vidda Pro Ventilated trousers were ordered as I already have some of the non-ventilated trousers, which are great but I wanted something a bit more up to date, with a bit of stretch. They suffer from the same problem as the other 'regular' leg Fjallraven legwear in that they are too long, and trying to find a short version in my size was difficult to say the least. I got a tailor to take these up a couple of inches and now they are fine. Good pockets, tough material, comfortable to wear, hopefully walking companions for years to come. From reviews I thought that these would be a bit slimmer in the leg, I guess the reviews are wrong, they are just as baggy as the standard trousers. I rarely use the boot lace hook but the straps at the bottom of the legs are often employed, especially when there is mud around. I wish that UK companies would carry a fuller range of colours and sizes.

Very good quality and good fit. Worth paying a bit more for a quality product that looks good and should last for a long time. Fast delivery, no complaints!

First I want to congratulate Woodlore for their excellent service in response time and communications. Last week I ordered another pair of Fjallraven Vidda Pro trousers, (the vented version this time), and was so pleasantly surprised to receive them within 2 days of ordering. Unfortunately, these seemed to be one size too big, so I promptly returned them by post on the Friday afternoon, but again I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email first thing Monday morning confirming the receipt of the returned trousers and the correct size being sent out. Today, Tuesday I have received the correct size versions and have to say, bearing in mind the difficult (Pandemic) times we are living through, I am very impressed with the turn around service as well as the very clear communications throughout. Why can't other companies work like this??? Many others seem to treat the pandemic as a reason to provide rude unhelpful service..... Anyway, I have no need to review the Fjallraven trousers further as I have done so before, except to say I think the fitting of the Vented version is even more comfortable and better fitted, making them look less like a dedicated outdoor garment and more like a leisure wear product. Top marks to Ray Mears Woodlore and their staff, I recommend visiting these guys for all your outdoor and leisure wear before anywhere else.

A fantastic pair of great looking trekking trousers, I've walked many miles since I purchased these about a month ago ( the plus side of the 2020 pandemic) the fit is perfect so just choose your regular size. The updates of the original Vidda Pro trousers are worth the extra money.

Not used in earnest yet but very happy with trousers, well-made and fit great. Only comment is they are quite high waisted so as a 'large' chap I may need to think about braces for comfort as an alternative. Service was perfect no complaints at all. Oh and later I bought the matching Fjallraven canvas belt which is good as well.

Well designed and well made trousers. The wax/DWR coating gives reasonable water turning capabilities but they will wet out in steady sustained rain. The pockets on the front of both thighs work well to improve the weather turning capability. The additional layers of material keeps the rain from soaking through as quickly as might otherwise be the case. To retain the rain/showerproof capability it is best to postpone washing the trousers and wipe them down with a wet cloth to remove dirt. Washing the trousers will remove the effectiveness of the wax coating and DWR and it is not an easy task re-applying the wax finish. As is often the case the treatment from the factory is the most effective. The pocket layout is very useful for kneeling for fire-starting and retaining easy access whilst wearing a jacket or smock. Useful knife pocket which has a press stud strap to thread through the belt loop on your sheath and click in place to prevent the sheath/knife dropping out. The side zips also really vent well in hot weather or if doing intense activity. The compatibility with their knee pads is an excellent feature and makes tasks around camp or in a tent where you need to kneel so much more bearable. Definitely recommend getting a set of pads with the trousers.

Built to the usual Fjallraven standard which we would expect, the added ventilation in these makes a big difference during the warmer weather, but as with other Fjallraven ventilated trousers I wish they would use some kind of mesh behind the zip. The fit is as expected for the size both waist and leg length. Tough trousers and relatively light great for all day comfort in all but the hottest of days, Highly recommended 5 stars from me.

The cut - If you liked the old version then you will love the new one. They still have that really tough feel to the material but the cut feels more modern and a bit closer. The cut is fantastic with the softshell material on the inside of the legs really useful in giving loads of movement but still leaving the areas that get wear fully covered with G1000. Time will tell how strong the softshell material is, but it feels robust enough. The leg zip made a huge difference when working hard. Pockets - It does feel strange not having a wallet in the back pocket but not really an issue. It has the well tested layout of big pockets. I normally have my knife on a belt but the new in pocket actually is quite effective, it takes the mora, standard puukko but struggles with broader blades. I personally don't think it is an issue since it's a pain to have a heavy knife in the pocket. I am not missing the old leg axe pocket which I never used (ever tried walking with an axe in it). The new loop on the waist is actually usable and is also handy for just clipping things like gloves to. All in all expensive but they are brilliant. The service from the Ray Mears Team was fast and efficient so no complaints there.
