Woolpower Ullfrotte Original Zip Turtleneck - 400g - Pine Green

  Absolutely the best! Woolpower ullfrotte is so much more than merino. I've been trying to explain to people just how good this garment is. As warm as a fleece, as comfortable as the best merino base layer and as wicking as the best synthetic base layer. It does everything; whether lounging around at home, low activity outdoor stuff under a jacket, or a super warm base/mid layer for high activity sports in Arctic conditions. The next to skin comfort, the warmth, the sweat wicking, it has everything. Not only that, but you don't just get to know WHERE they're made (Sweden) but WHO made them, with the seamstress name sewn inside. The only very minor niggle is that I find the cuffs a bit bulky. The cuffs on the 200 weight ullfrotte are just fine, and I don't understand why they need to be heavier on the 400. BTW, the 200 weight ullfrotte is just as excellent in a lighter weight.

  I wish I'd discovered Woolpower years ago. The quality is outstanding, right down to the packaging. It's great next to the skin, can be worn tucked in as a base layer, or not tucked as a smart, slim 'jumper'. The high neck is comfortable, no irritation, and ends the need for a neck tube or scarf. Length is excellent, and it's thicker than I thought it would be. I just don't want to wear anything else now - have had it on for 10 days and still no odour, but people will start to talk so I'm going to give it a wash! Which you can do at 60 degree's C! Really love everything about this garment and will have to get another - maybe try the 200g one, as I bought the 200g long john's at the same time - also excellent. Expensive, but considering what I have paid for similar but inferior garments It's money well spent. Thanks Woodlore!

  Bought this after buying the 200g version. It’s a great fit and offers a high degree of warmth as a base or mid layer. Zip is great for venting. I’ve found it excellent for sleeping in if you take a lighter sleeping bag.

  Purchased this item to use as a base layer next to the skin to keep me warm at the river side. The sizing is accurate and the fit is good, the garment feels thick and does not allow wind through. It is very warm when worn next to the skin and does not itch. It looks good enough to wear as a jumper and if you wear this inside the house you can turn the heating down. Since I bought it 3 weeks ago, I have worn it constantly. It never seems to get smelly, amazing, well made, I am very pleased with it.

  Firstly let me say that the service from Woodlore was excellent. 36hrs to arrive, brilliant. Now for the product, brilliant! It is extremely comfortable to wear, very well made and gives a reassuring feel when it is on. I only have one complaint and that it is too good for the temperatures we have as yet experienced here in the south. I will now be saving hard for the 200 version. teamed with the Bergans Morgedal anorak also from here it makes a perfect team for the winter walks. Looking forward to some decent cold weather now.

  As someone who is intolerant of wool, I can't wear these garments next to my skin. However, they are just fine and work superbly over my existing base layers. For this reason I would recommend these as a mid layer (rather than the 200g Ullfrotte base layers) for anyone who is sensitive to wool. Wonderfully warm but thin enough to layer under another mid layer or to enhance the insulation of a sleeping bag. A great addition to my kit, which takes up very little space. Thank you Woodlore for making these available in the UK.

  I bought this for my wildfowling trips on the Dee marsh as it very cold in the winter. Have tried it with my Icebreaker 200 bodyfit T-shirt - way too warm as we have not had the cold weather yet. Have used too with a Rab 120 T-shirt and it keeps me warm when the sun dips on the marsh but you don't need any layer other than a waterproof jacket. So yes, a good buy, expensive but well worth it. Roll on the winter, no more complaints about the cold.

  Great piece of kit. It's a base layer, not a top. So wear it under a shirt. No bag should be without one. Great service.
