The Paramo Halkon Jacket is a windproof, waterproof and breathable coat for outdoor enthusiasts, especially those who want lots of practical carrying space. In designing the Halkon Jacket, Paramo had the assistance of a number of professional wildlife cameramen and photographers, including Joe Cornish and John Aitchison - people who have taken their fair share of the brunt of British weather. As such, it is a brilliant outer layer for budding photographers, filmers and bird watchers, and can be seen on professional lensmen across the country.

Paramo Directional Clothing Systems was set up by the founder and owner of Nikwax, Nick Brown. Focusing on wearability, recovery and long life, they have created a range of clothing that is comfortable, durable, highly functional and - most importantly - weatherproof! The Halkon Jacket is a fantastic example of this.

The use of unique Nikwax Analogy fabric, combined with the Halkon's ventilation options, ensures you can maintain your comfort without taking layers on and off during your adventures. Additionally, as the performance of Analogy fabric isn't hindered by the outside temperature or humidity level, the Halkon Jacket can be used in freezing cold environments such as the Arctic. It also features a fleece-lined collar, wire-framed hood and handwarming pockets for additional comfort.

As zip-front jackets go, the Halkon is the Swiss Army knife. There are pockets for everything, including zippable hand-warmer pockets. The neck-warming collar and hood are superb and, as with all Paramo garments, the fit and finish of the fabric is impeccable. Being wind and waterproof while still highly breathable make it perfect for active use in our weather, while the generous cut gives ample space for an insulating layer while waiting for the light to change on a winter day. A fantastic all-rounder. - Joe Cornish, Landscape Photographer

My 2nd Halcon. I didn't hesitate to buy a replacement, but the previous one lasted just 3.5 years wearing through the left side skirt area and rear waist cord panel, due to friction from carrying a camera bag over many miles during that time. My only criticism of the design is the zip. I've had army kit, and subsequently bought other jackets and equipment with very smooth chunky nylon zips. These jackets have a fine nylon zip with metal sliders which are often temperamental and not the easiest to use, with or without gloves on. Despite that, the jacket is very comfortable, with plenty of pockets, so I'll probably be back for another in a few years time.

Excellent jacket as described in the specification. Layering according to weather conditions is essential to get the maximum benefit.

I wanted an all year round jacket for hiking and nature watching, something that will cope with bad weather keeping me warm and dry. The Paramo Halcon fits the requirement perfectly. Its tough and durable but lightweight and not bulky. There's plenty of pockets which are roomy and well positioned, holding a lot of gear. I love all the draw cords, they really bring the material in for a snug fit. It is roomy being extra large which is ideal for me as can comfortably wear extra layers, but to be honest I don't think it matters as the jacket is warm to wear just with a tee shirt. I Think I could have got away with a large size for a closer cut, I'm 5 ft 10 and about 14 stone. It doesn't matter as the extra large is really comfortable to wear. The colour is darker than advertised, which is great for me as i can blend in to the countryside a bit better when i'm out with my binoculars nature watching. I haven't been able to try out the waterproofing of the jacket as yet, but there's a good video to watch on You tube which demonstrates how well the material keeps you warm and dry in the pouring rain. It is better than some other fabrics out there For me the price is high but its well worth saving up for, everything about the Paramo Halcon is high quality. So if you want a good all year round jacket this is well worth a try. Enjoy. Chris.

Based on all the reviews I decided it was time for me the get a Paramo jacket. After some research it had to be the Halcon jacket as it is the most versatile. I can use it in the weekend, but I am also going into the mountains on a phototrip. I was really surprised about the outerlayer material, it feels really thin. Which makes it an easy to wear jacket. Although cotton does have a better appeal, this material is far lighter and silent. The jacket is a bit longer like a parka is, but it is not too long. I haven't been able to test the waterproofness, but I expect that it will be ok. The delivery from Ray Mears to the Netherlands happened fast, just a few days. The price is still much lower should I have bought it in the Netherlands. Great Jacket.

Can't praise this jacket highly enough, it is my go to jacket. Used for hiking, dog walking, trips to the shops, everything. The colour is much darker than the photograph shows, and much nicer. The fabric is soft and quiet, but also tough. I've found it waterproof and breathable enough for my needs, though this is always a trade off with any garment. It has more pockets than you will ever need, the lined hand warmer side pockets are a nice touch. The one pull waist drawcord is also well designed and I use that a lot to aid ventilation. All in all an excellent jacket.

I spent ages comparing coats and am very happy with this one. Certainly on the pricy side, I hope it will last 20 years like my previous coat did. The fabric is lighter than I expected but so far is indeed been waterproof and surprisingly warm. I love the handwarmer pockets. Pockets are good and can still access the lower ones when wearing a rucksack. Not quite as 'no rustle' as my old coat was but still much quieter than most waterproofs available.

I purchased the jacket for the purpose of nature watching and it is admirably suitable for this purpose. The colour is a lovely shade of green and the fabric is very comfotable to wear. It keeps one warm in cool conditions when worn in conjunction with a base layer and fleece, the ample ventilation options allow you to keep cool in warmer conditions.

I am a Paramo convert for at least the last 9 years. So having an opportunity to purchase the Halcon Jacket would be a must for hunting. It performs exactly has it should. Really pleased with it.
