  Savotta jääkäri s. First impressions are it's not as big as I was expecting which is good as I didn't want it too big yet it can be expanded to fit a lot in. The quality of the fabric is nice. It feels comfortable on my shoulders. Definitely need to get the happy patch as that's a great addition. Just wish it had some more pockets but you can buy those extra. It arrived the next day after ordering.

  Excellent build quality and simple design without the excess of pockets many comparable packs have. I was concerned about the lack of padding on the straps initially, but I’ve regularly used it with 22lbs + in with no problem. Really happy with the purchase and always happy with the service from Woodlore.

  What an amazing bit of kit, this little rucksack is perfect for a short trip out. Its size is very deceptive with the amount it can hold and it all compresses down weighing next to nothing. It is very durable and bomb proof and in fact really well made. The only drawback is the way the straps tighten, they have to be pulled out and up and this is a little awkward but on the savotta website there is a hack which shows how to modify them so they pull down like normal straps. But as a daysack goes, it has no rival.

  Great little day bag, very high build quality, and despite having no padding it is surprisingly comfortable. You can over pack this a lot as well which is great.

  Have tried various big name daysacks in order to find the perfect pack and was never really happy with any of them, so after doing a bit of research I thought I'd try a Savotta rucksack. Initially I was sceptical of carrying it over any great distances straight out of the box because of the lack of sling pads but having just taken it up and down a 1000m peak I can now join the ranks of Savotta fans. The build quality is bombproof, as was evident when first unpacking it. It is well made, tough, spacious and supporting multiple Molle attachment points for upgrades and additions it can carry a lot more than the advertised 22l. For my test I attached an extra pouch of stuff to the outside via the Molle points, loaded it up with a full 2l hydration pouch plus an extra 1l water bottle, clothes, food, some hiking essentials and took it for a trial run up to 1000m. I found it very comfortable to carry, not even noticing the lack of sling pads or chest strap, and the pack straps didn't slide off my shoulders or cut in to them. The hydration pouch, along with the Savotta foam mat I had bought alongside the pack, gave good padding to my back against the more angular items in my pack and made the climb a comfortable experience. I ordered some sling pads from a Finnish company at the same time as I bought this and will try them at a later date but the pack works fine without them. It maybe something else for Woodlore to keep in stock in future. I can see this being my go to pack for day hikes and even short wild camps. Some utility straps can carry a bivy or tent on the outside of the pack as well as a sleeping mat and the optional extra side pouches will give even more space for cooking or wash gear. Overall a great piece of kit and I will be looking at buying more Savotta gear in the future.

  A tough little bag that can be rolled up out of the way. Very nice folding opening, both simple and efficient to use. The no frills design, no belt, external pouches frame or padding might not be to everyone’s liking but that’s what I wanted, and Savotta build and materials are fantastic as ever. The Savotta sit Matt fits as a flexible frame sheet but then can’t be rolled away easily. PALS there if you want to add pockets, I wish they’d left most of them off as I’m unlikely to use them, Overall it's an excellent little pack.

  Very delighted with the bag. excellent build. very well made. strong. Its light at 750g and It's compact. light. very adaptable with lots of straps for external attachments. Internal is one main compartment and has a section for Camel Pac bladder, and a inside zip pocket near the top for keys, first aid kit etc. it's very easy to open up, load up. Good shape. used in the rain and internal contents did not become wet. Very pleased. Shoulder straps are not padded. Light short walks no issues. Fill to 22 litres max and heavy as it can dig in on the shoulders. Try padded seat belt pads. There is no frame to the bag, good in one way as its light. But can dig into your back if carry anything with corners. There is an accessory that slips into the internal big pocket called 'Savotta MPP Foam Mat. Disappointed this was not supplied with it. Its a little like having to buy the seats for you new car as an extra. Savotta need to address this. Have phoned customer service at Ray Mears and they may sell this soon but as an extra. At present you have to shop around for it. I used the padded bag the bag came in, folded it in half slipped it in the internal pocket and works a treat. It stops anything with corners digging into your back. It is an excellent bag, strong, built to last a life time, light, adaptable, compact. External accessories are available, such as external side pocks, and MPP foam mat for internal padding. Savotta also make Savotta Happy Patch, this is a smile face on velcro that fits the velcro patch on the top outside, bit of fun. Ordered the bag at 2pm and it arrived 10am the next day free post, that's excellent service from Ray Mears Shop. I would recommend the bag. It's ideal for light walks. If you tend to like to load up and carry the kitchen sink go for a larger bag with padded shoulders.

  I wanted this pack in this particular colour, not the black one. Everything comes to he who waits. Haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet. But it exudes quality. All the seams are perfectly stitched, no loose threads. The materials used look to be of high quality and I have no doubt this is built to last. There are cheaper packs of the same size, for less money, but this pack looks to be a quality item.
