The standard DP hood is an excellent addition to your active shirt or special 6 shirt for all but the worst weather. It makes sense to go for the same colour as your shirt and the DP hood covers all colours. However it does not have a wired peak nor does it have a hood reduction device on the back and the face cover flap is not permanently attached and is held in place by Velcro. The flap is probably best removed and kept in the top chest zipped pocket of the shirt for when you do not need it rather than have it flapping and at risk of losing it when you have the hood down. Buffalo do offer an Expedition hood which is wired, does have a reduction strap and has a face flap permanently fixed. This hood is able to go over a climbing helmet and one size does all by using the reduction strap. It is only available in green or black but is a better option for high wind gnarly conditions. Hence the DP hood gets 4 stars and the Expedition hood would get 5. Woodlore ought to consider offering the Expedition hood in green to go with the special 6 shirt and trousers. I use this hood with mine but still am very happy with the DP hood on my Active and Mountain shirts.
