Hilleberg Akto 1 Person Tent (Plus 95.00 Pound Bonus)
- Hassle free returns within 30 days
The Hilleberg Akto Tent is ideal for solo backpacking, especially for long trips of any kind, in any season, where light weight is a very high priority. And while not designed for extreme or above-tree line use, the Akto has proven itself on extended polar expeditions, and so will stand up well in all conditions. Its single-pole Tunnel Tent construction, very light yet very strong Kerlon 1200 material and 9 mm pole make it best suited for mobile trips, where you pitch and take down your tent daily.
Pitching the Akto is an easy task thanks to its single pole design and adjustable pole holder. It requires only 4 pegs – one for each of the corner guy lines – yet an additional 6 points provide more options for increasing stability. Included with the Akto are 10 'V-Pegs'.
The Akto's design offers full sitting height in the middle of the tent, while sturdy fibreglass rods in the corners of the outer tent provide extra height, eliminating the claustrophobia that many solo tents engender; tall users find it one of the few solo tents available that has enough room. The Akto's roomy configuration will easily accommodate both you and your gear.
An important feature of the Akto is its use of both an inner and outer tent. The Tunnel design and linked inner and outer tents makes it very simple and quick to set up, and provides a high degree of stability in all conditions. To keep condensation to a minimum there is a zipped vent at each end of the tent and one covered, adjustable vent in the vestibule. The Akto's ventilation works regardless of weather conditions, since the inner tent's fabric is highly breathable.
Another major benefit of the Akto is the material used to make it. The Kerlon 1200 fabric is renowned to be one of the lightest tent materials available. Its remarkable tear strength makes it stronger than many so-called 'heavy-duty' or 'expedition-grade' fabrics. Kerlon 1200 is easily the strongest, ultra-lightweight tent fabric out there. Although only slightly heavier than a bivy bag, the Akto offers near-luxury all-season shelter for the solo traveller.
A complete tent consists of inner and outer tent with guy lines and runners, poles, pegs, stuff bags, spare pole section, repair sleeve and instructions. This tent carries a 5 year guarantee.

Excellent product and excellent service, 5 stars all the way, wouldn't hesitate to buy from again, many thanks.
I bought this in 2015 and used it for a three month cycling trip around the North Sea that year. It's perfect for cycle touring, with enough room in the porch for all my panniers and food. It's easy to pitch, but although you can pitch the whole thing at once I found I usually had to detach the fly from the inner so as to keep the inner tent dry. The footprint may seem expensive but it is worth every penny. The tent is still going strong six years later, but I've been careful with it. I met someone who'd broken a lot of poles on his, but when I saw how he chucked the pole around I wasn't surprised. The metal sleeves that hold the pole sections together are very thin and the instructions mean what they say. You can't buy a better one man tent.
First of all I would like to say what an awesome team and customer service Woodlore provide. They are up there with the best company's to buy from and deal with. Exceptional responses and proactive approaches. Fantastic.
The delivery for the Akto tent was next day. Superb. The tent itself is awesome. With good care, should last a lifetime. The new dark green on the Akto is fantastic. With the £70.00 bonus evouchers from woodlore, I was able to purchase the footprint. I was having difficulty using the vouchers on the website and yes, they responded immediately with no questions asked and posted off a footprint to me and sorted the voucher issue. Amazing attention to detail. I dealt with Paul who was an absolute gentleman and could not have been speedier or more attentive.
Love the quality of this product but very noisy to sleep in with a moderate wind, earplugs required.
Absolutely stunning bit of kit, delivered in record time and was very helpful and sent footprint out with no postage even though I was the one who did the order wrong. I can't recommend Hilleberg or Woodlore enough.
Expensive, but the excellent quality was very apparent in every detail of the product. I used it for hiking in high winds in Patagonia and it was easily the most stable tent I've ever been in.
Lightweight, easy to pitch and build quality is excellent. Took it out for the first time a couple of weeks ago and turned into a very windy outing. It stood up to it without any problems.
Spacious vestibule and inner compared to other tents I've tried and the inner door set up is very useful for me. I like the vented hood at the top as well providing extra ventilation when brewing up in the vestibule area. Very pleased and would definitely recommend. Top drawer service from raymears.com as well, I would definitely buy from here again.
As expected a quality piece of kit at excellent value! The Akto, in my opinion, will be my go shelter for year round adventures. The quality is unmistakable. I've had many tents tarps and bivi's during my 30 years of outdoor adventures from a variety of brands, however, the Hilleberg brand and Akto is clearly the Rolex of Tents and brands. The footprint is a must for longevity. Delivered in good time and perfect condition. An awesome purchase.
I have used this tent three times now and usually I use a two-man tent, this is my first time in a one-man tent. I am impressed with how roomy it is,
the flysheet goes all the way to the ground, there is a nice gap between the inner tent and the outer, overall it's a quality product. There are copies lighter than this design but these are brands I have used before in what I consider testing conditions.
So far very pleased with the tent and a great price.
Bought this Tent for lightweight backpacking in Scotland. A great design with some nice features to make the tent easy to put up in bad weather, either wind or rain. It's not the lightest, but I bought this as a trade off between robust and reliable and lightweight. It looks like it will cope with the worst of Scottish weather better than my previous tent. Very comfortable for one man, I am sure you could fit more, but I would opt for the Nallo 2 if needing more space.
Whilst I have not used this actual tent yet, I have owned and used an Akto in the past and been really pleased with it. This purchase is an 'upgrade' to the current model with some design tweaks, and also to the 'Sand' colour, which is a brilliant camouflage colour when wild camping. The tent is very roomy for a 'solo' but remains lightweight whilst also being very tough. It is also very easy and quick to erect.
Fairly light tent, well put together. Very, very easy to put up. Love this tent.
Great quality tent as one would expect from Hilleberg. There are lighter ones on the market but you lose strength and durability. Sand (light brown to most of us) is a great colour for blending into the British moors and mountains. Some people say it's big enough for two but its not, it's definitely a one man tent but with plenty of room for gear in the porch area and the inner.
Great tent. Is perfect size for 1 man, could fit 2 if needed. I love the colour. Took it to New Forest and it blends right in. Yes, it cost a lot but so does replacing broken tents every few years. The folks at Woodlore answered my e-mails straight away and were very helpful.
Beautifully designed and simplistic in its construction. I love the way the inner tent can be packed away along with the rest of your equipment while you are still comfortably ensconced within the outer in bad weather, which is what I had to do on my last night on Dartmoor the other day. On the second night I pitched it high upon a rocky outcrop; somewhat exposed to very strong winds, yet I slept soundly as the wind came at me from all directions. It even managed to keep its integral shape, fantastic! I'm not really one for tents; I prefer to sleep out in the open, however, I get the feeling this tent is going to be accompanying me on many more trips where I wish to sleep more exposed. Worthy of hype. Ingenious design - such simplicity and ease of use; great use of space - my wife is small and can fit inside with me, although if attempting this yourself make sure you know whoever it is joining you very well indeed. The footprint is a no brainer - makes it easier to roll-up and doesnt add much weight at all - and it really is light! Sand colour a nice touch.
This is a very good tent. A lot of this is down to the attention to detail in its design. The ventilation system, which can be zipped closed while still remaining breathable, allows for extra warmth in cold weather. The single pole can be pushed in from one side without having to go round to the other side of the tent to anchor it. The wedge shape of the tent tends to push it down in a wind; I camped on a Welsh mountain pass on a breezy night and I had no worries about the tent blowing down. The Kerlon fabric does feel different to the usual tent fabrics, being thinner and less stretchy, but also very strong. The tent is easy to pitch and the guying system works very well; mine was anchored to a rock on the windward side. It is also nice to get good quality tent pegs for a change, but a couple of spares would have been nice. For use in very high winds some extra optional pegging and guying points would be useful, although they wouldn't be necessary in the majority of conditions. I also think that a tent bag made of a breathable fabric would allow the tent to dry a bit during a days walk. Some fixing points on the tent bag would be nice too, as I often tie my tent to the outside of my rucksack.
Stunning design. Takes minutes to erect and dissassemble. Very stable when up, low to the ground. Light as a feather. A perfect tent for solo and wild backpacking. Highly recommended.
Used in minus zero temperatures, with little or no wind and there was condensation in the tent overnight, even when all the ventilation was open. Having said that, other tents in the same location and conditions also experienced the same issue, so sometimes the temperature gradient from outside to in is so great that some condensation may be inevitable.
I wanted a small tent to use whilst travelling on my motorcycle. I've owned another Hilleberg tent for a few years and knew the quality would be superb. The first time I used the Akto was in Snowdonia over the first weekend of March 14th. The tent is really quick to erect with 10 pegs and one pole. There was plenty of room for me and my biking suit, helmet and clothes inside of the tent and plenty of storage for my boots and cooking kit in the vestibule. We had some pretty bad winds and lots of rain on the Saturday night but the tent stayed dry and secure, luckily I had pitched the door away from the wind and had a comfortable night. I'm really happy with this tent from my first impression, a great purchase and Woodlore offered the best deal on the web, delivered in good time and in good order.
One trip only in benign conditions but I am very delighted with this tent so far. It is certainly beautifully made with some nice touches e.g. the locking cleats on the guy ropes and the spare pole in its own sleeve in the pole bag. It has the look of a product that has been thought and developed to the highest standard. I met a German kayaker on the trip; with more than a hint on envy he said "I see you have bought the most expensive tent in the world".
I slept with the outer totally unzipped and there were no condensation issues whatsoever, as you would expect.
The ease of putting up and taking down is fantastic. I would say it can be easily in under five minutes.
You can get a one man tent for £50 but if you want quality that will last, you gonna have to pay up.
Like many I had wanted one of these for SEVERAL years when I stumbled across it in a magazine this year quoting a price tag of £395.00. Checked Woodlore and hey presto £300.00 GREAT!! (Please note price has since increased to £325.00) Purchased in March and must admit first pitch was in the garden (couldn't wait). Since then have used it on various wild camps even in snow and driving rain it has proved 'bomb proof'! Loads of room for one, easy to pitch and venting excellent. Even pitched it as an emergency shelter to keep 3 out of some serious precipitation ! Can't praise it highly enough and the super service from those at Woodlore.
Fantastic, superb tent! Have wanted one of these for a long time and now that I have it and used it over the weekend it's even better than expected. Very spacious for a solo tent; my toddler could even fit in the tent with me. Can't wait to take advantage of the space and light weight on my next solo expedition.
