No instructions, or at least I don’t remember reading any. The bar is a locking and unlocking mechanism. You have to push it with some force to lock it in a way that the spork doesn’t fold when in use. Overall I think I’d be happier with a double sided cutlery piece.

Bought one of these as opposed to a racing spoon as i figured the later would get bent in my work bag. Well made, locks up nicely, job done.

Very light weight as expected, folds up small and looks strong. There is no discernable metallic taste which you sometimes get with some camping cutlery. The only downside I've noticed is bit fiddly setting up the handle if you got very cold fingers and can be a bit tricky to get to the bottom of some food pouches. Otherwise so far pleased with this product.
