The Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty MG Knife is a powerful tool for bushcrafters, hunters and outdoorsmen alike. As with all Mora knives, it offers excellent build quality and ergonomics at a surprisingly low price.

With an almost identical build to that of the popular Mora Companion MG Knife, this Heavy Duty model benefits from a considerably thicker blade, measuring 3.2 mm in width. Made from carbon steel, this improvement brings the knife in line with more expensive models on the market, and results in a more robust knife that will withstand harder use.

This Heavy Duty version of the Companion Knife is an excellent knife to use whilst learning basic bushcraft techniques (being sturdy enough to withstand harsh treatment), while still being of a high enough quality to use once you are more proficient in knife work. Woodlore students attending our Fundamental Bushcraft courses will be issued with this knife, while it is also widely used by Woodlore's Instructors and Assistants.

The Companion Heavy Duty Knife features a half tang, moulded into an extra large ergonomic handle with a soft, high-friction grip; both the handle and sheath have been made in the distinctive Mora military green colour-scheme. The classic scandi grind carbon steel blade allows for easy sharpening, while the wider bevel angle of 27° gives extra strength for tasks such as batoning.

The sheath is made from tough plastic and will attach comfortably to most belt widths. It includes Mora's trusty thumb-push feature, which makes it easier to draw the knife with one hand. The internal Knife Retaining System inside the sheath has also been improved, resulting in a better fit between knife and sheath, making for added safety.

Overall, the Companion Heavy Duty MG Knife is a fantastically strong and well-designed tool for all-round outdoor and Bushcraft use, at a great price.

This knife arrived next day. Razor sharp and a great piece of high quality low cost equipment. The sheath hooks on to belt, rucksack webbing etc. This knife can be used in the kitchen for food preparation and/or carpentry, DIY etc and general outdoor use and can be worked very hard if required. I use a RM leather strop to keep the edge keen and would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a good GP blade.

Price to quality ratio is unbelievable. A great knife, especially for people just starting out.

Not bad for the price. The blade doesn’t work with a Ferro rod. It’s leagues behind compared to my Buck Selkirk (£75). But you get what you pay for. Cheap everyday knife.

Awesome knife, good for both splitting wood, and finer things like feather sticks.

I bought two of these knives. One for my wife and one for myself for a bushcraft course we are attending. I've had carving knives from Frost's of Mora which were razor sharp out of the box and I've read other reviews that say the same of the Heavy Duty Companion. I guess this may depend on your definition of the word sharp. I would not have said these knives come razor sharp. However it only takes a short time at the bench stone to achieve a razor sharp edge on these knives. The steel is of good quality and the handle is a nice slip resistant rubber material which feels comfortable in the hand. The sheath is made of plastic with a clip that will slide over your belt and clip firmly into place. There's no chance of it coming off accidentally but it can be removed easily without removing your belt. The knife clips firmly into the sheath again with no chance of it falling out. The knife can be removed with one hand by pushing the little nub on the sheath with your thumb as you pull the knife with the rest of your hand. There is a drainage hole in the tip of the sheath. I looked at a lot of knives before selecting this one from prices as high as £90. I spent a long time researching and decided that in most cases all you are paying for is bells and whistles. I'm not big on bells and whistles I just like things to do what they say on the tin. In short I think if you don't mind having to sharpen it before you start (no big deal), this is a good functional knife with no fancy trimmings.

Very great knife, brilliant blade and very sharp, great for all round use. I would highly recommend for beginners right through to the more experienced, the sheath is great also and never falls off and requires no belt.

Arrived next day as described, have been using the knife in all weather conditions and grip is still good even when wet and the blade has a very sharp edge, sheath is very good and clips on to your trousers without a belt.would recommend to anyone doing camping or bushcraft, a great all-round knife.
