Swazi Ali Gaiters

  I’ve been a fan of swazi gear for a while and I’ve now started doing munro bagging in the winter as well as the summer, so I invested in these gaiters. It’s the usual swazi quality as expected. They feel very robust and fit quite snug to your legs but don’t feel restrictive. I haven’t even needed to use the wire loop yet either they fit that well. Between the Velcro cinch at the top and the stretch panel on them they will fit a wide variety of leg sizes. I wear Vivobarefoot boots and they work great with them so even with big bulky proper mountaineering boots they would probably be great. Good kiwi product, everything you need, nothing you don’t.

  I have been using these gaiters a couple of times now walking in hard terrain and the quality of the craftsmanship is superb. They are also extremely comfortable to wear. They sit very tight to your leg so I do not need to use the metal strap around the boot. No snow will enter from above or beneath. They are also as far as I can see waterproof. Fits perfect with plus four breeks.

  Limited use in hard conditions at this point, but the gaiters arrived quickly considering it was UK to US so very happy with the Ray Mears store. The gaiters quality of construction seems top notch. The reinforced fabric is tough and quiet and the vinyl-coated steel retainer straps are better than any other strap design I've seen. I really like that the packaging for the straps was included so it's easy enough to track down replacements when that day comes. The fit is snug and comfortable with the adjustable top strap helping to keep the gaiters up without being too tight. The weave and design makes it feel like an integrated part of your pant and much more articulating than the stiffer, flatter designs I've seen from other manufacturers. Really looking forward to evaluating these in a harsher environment on a mountain hunt this October.

  Excellent gaiters - the medium size are quite tight-fitting and you have to stretch the material a little to get the zip done up. I think this is how they should be; they are a close fit to the leg with no material flapping around when you walk. There is a 'v' of elasticated material at the top of the gaiter to allow a comfortable fit to the calf-velcro secures the top. I do not use the wire attachment for under the boot. The gaiters do not ride up the leg when walking - I just use the hook which clips on to the lace. The material is very lightweight and sheds water very well-what water they do pick up dries very quickly after you take them off. The material is hard-wearing and after owning these for a year they are showing no signs of failure in any way-expensive, but weighed against alternative gaiters i believe they are worth it.

  Very good gaiter. Only down side is I struggle to get them over a big boot.

  Having contemplated at length the purchase of these expensive gaiters I finally made the jump. Firstly I was surprised at the lightness of these items which is good as weight on the foot is an equal weight on the back. The feel and look of the gaiters is fantastic. I love the steel foot strap which will make for the items longevity as will the kevlar impregnation in the gaiters' material element. I wear size 10 boots and have an athletic build and would advise this and larger is ordered in the extra large if you want the keeper lace hook to fit over the boot laces, as my medium sized items come up slightly too tight to facilitate this coverage. For my part I am very impressed with this product.
