The Ice Bear Medium Waterstone is a high quality Japanese sharpening stone with a grit rating of 1,200. It is ideal for removing scratches, further refining and partly polishing the surface of your blade following honing on a coarser stone.

As used by Ray Mears for many years, Ice Bear's traditional Japanese waterstones offer unrivalled quality for tool sharpening. If you own a high quality knife, it's only right that you sharpen it using high quality stones.

For a comprehensive set of sharpening stones, Ray Mears recommends using this 1,200 grit stone alongside the Ice Bear Waterstone Sharpening Kit. After sharpening your knife, Woodlore recommend the use of Ice Bear Camellia Oil to protect the blade from rust and corrosion.

A must have finishing stone before moving on to the 6000 grit honing stone. I added it to my order of the ice bear kit and I'm glad I did - razor sharp edges on my axes and knife so much so I can literally shave with them.

Got this to complete the set, as suggested by Ray! I think a coarser one may be needed for me though as I am still spending a little more on each stone than I feel I should. Overall a very sound range of products that I would be happy to recommend.
