Bought this to replace my 20 year old Special 6 shirt. As expected the build quality is superb and it fits true to size. Use it for hiking and rifle shooting. Wore it last Friday on a mountain trip up Barnavave Carlingford. Wind chill at top was -15 and the Buffalo shirt kept me toasty. Fast delivery and decent price for a great piece of kit.

Great jacket, exactly what I hoped for. Warm, practical and looks great! Would recommend.

First of all, the order process was easy and the delivery speedy. The top is the second I have bought, but in a different colour. I am a big fan of them and I use it regularly when temperatures start to drop. I did read up on the top before I bought it and that is worth doing for such an investment.

Great colour, not quite waterproof but offers good breathability. Works best without anything on underneath, but ensure it has a tight fit. Use the straps to adjust otherwise can feel a little cold for colder people. Others I know found it enough.

Fantastic jacket, though the weather is getting a bit too warm for it now so looking forward to wearing it much more in Autumn and Winter. The zips are great for ventilation though, plenty of opportunity to get a bit of cool air circulating through. The pockets - both the hand one and the large front one are great, so there is no need for gloves in cooler weather and there is lots of room for a map, keys, etc in the front chest pocket. Great price, significantly lower than other retailers, I'm very happy.

A replacement for old mountain shirt which was 14 years old, it's identical to the old shirt except the central hand pocket has now a sort of grippy rubberised material on the body side inside. I was a motorcycle dispatch rider for 32 years and used the mountain shirt under my motorcycle suit. In the upper map pocket of the mountain shirt I would keep a decent quality torch switched on next to my heart for added warmth. The buffalo Pertex material would also handle any ingress of rainwater from the outer motorcycle jacket, it was a real lifesaver over each winter 5 days a week for 14 years. I'm retired now so splashed out on this new one for walking and hiking. I love its light weight, best worn directly next to the skin however it's ok to wear a T shirt under for prudence as the day warms up. All in all I think the Buffalo is an investment, rain resistant and I have been soaked totally but it's not the end of the world as it seems to dry out as you walk.

A stalwart classic, bombproof and reliable product. If only it packed down smaller it would be perfect. I went for the 48 inch chest, which is quite big, I generally tend to size up with outdoor kit, I could have got away with the 46, so my advice would be order true to size, as its long in the body and arms. Buffalo systems mountain shirt is superb. I wear mine against my skin but sometimes with a thermal base layer depending on the temperature and what I am doing but it keeps me warm and dry. The ventilation zips are great to cool off a little if needed. Like all of the kit I have bought from Ray's Woodlore site it's top notch and by being on the site has already passed the sniff test. The order arrived the very next day too so excellent customer service.

If been thinking of getting one of these for 30 of years and have finally got one. Worth the wait, I think. Because of lockdown I've only really been able to use it locally on lowland country walks so far, but it has easily stood up to rain, sleet and snow in some quite stiff breezes at around zero. Haven't felt cold except once on a stop. Occasionally noticed that the wind can whistle up from underneath and that maybe the side zips could do with better baffling, but not enough to be a problem. I've even been a little too warm at times, even in sub zero temperatures. All in all I'm really very impressed. I've now ordered some Teclite salopettes which I think will work very well with the shirt.

Not worn a great deal yet. Interesting to compare it to the much drier but colder New England winters, as to say a UK winter. I've been wearing a thermal long sleeve shirt underneath as the fur is somewhat itchy.
Really like the pockets, shame the hood isn't included.
Everything from woodlore was great and delivery to the US was very quick and reasonable.
Would definitely use again and get more Buffalo Systems clothing .

Excellent garment, bought to replace a previous 'Mountain Shirt' that was almost 20 years old, mainly used on Dartmoor with all its changing weather patterns. Always remained warm and comfortable. Planning to give this a go when skiing in the Alps when we are able.

As expected the buffalo mountain shirt is brilliant. Warm, dry and snug. My son wears it for work mainly and he's outdoors all day as a tree surgeon. He has worn buffalo before and always swears by them.

Buffalo Systems Mountain Shirt, Great piece of kit, keeps you very warm and cosy very good fit and well made, had one many years ago for mountaineering and climbing. Now in my later years use it on cold days for my outdoor sports photography trips.

Absolutely delighted. It has proved to be everything it said it would be. It kept out the wind, kept me dry in a couple of major downpours and was really comfortable to wear - I just need to try it out in snow.

The shirt is warm, windproof & waterproof. So far, all that I have ever needed under it is a wicking t-shirt. I may need a little bit more in the winter, but it won't be very much. Highly recommended.
I was also impressed by the company - not only did they have the cheapest prices that I could find on-line, they also offer free postage, & same day dispatch.

The Buffalo Mountain Shirt is a great item and is as good today as the original Special 6 Shirt from my army days way back. Great for warmth when wet or dry and superb on the tops in strong winds. Truly a great all-rounder.
Unzip the sides when moving for venting out heat and baton down the hatches to get warmed up. The hood is a great addition in extreme weather as it keeps out the worst of the weather. I also love the large map pocket. Great kit. Glad I chose to reinvest in this icon once again. 5*****

I haven't had a chance to try it out in cold weather but I have tried lightweight backpacking on a cold, wet & windy August weekend with just the mountain shirt and a nylon running shirt for top half wear. When the rain got heavy the mountain shirt (without the running shirt) kept me comfortable and with maximum ventilation not too too sweaty. If I hadn't have been wearing a rucksack (about 5kg) airflow would have been better still. The inner fleece dried quickly, even when a little damp was still comfortable. Worn with the hood at night in my bivvi, it kept me toasty worn. Love it!

Perfect for February salmon fishing in Scotland (in the snow). I wore a base layer underneath and needed only a hat and gloves to be comfortable. Outstanding piece of kit.

Another great product from Buffalo. Can be worn on its own in all but the harshest of rain and still keeps you warm. Side zips and webbing strap on the inside pocket also allow you to keep it vented if the weather becomes warmer or you start working a little harder. Also still made in Sheffield!!

I can't quite bring myself to wear this next to my skin as recommended, however even with a thin base layer this product is excellent. I wore it for the first time paragliding near Ingleton and spent the whole day either in the air or sitting on top of the ridge in wind. The other layers I brought didn't see the light of day and I was one of the only people up there who wasnt shivering as the day drew on.
I've tried and use a lot of kit, this I'd highly recommend for the weight and space that it takes up.
