The Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty MG Knife is a powerful tool for bushcrafters, hunters and outdoorsmen alike. As with all Mora knives, it offers excellent build quality and ergonomics at a surprisingly low price.

This Heavy Duty knife has been produced specially to celebrate Woodlore's 40th Anniversary, featuring '40 Years of Bushcraft', alongside the classic Woodlore logo etched on to the blade. This exclusive, limited-edition knife is in celebration of Woodlore’s 40 year anniversary, and also the long-term collaboration of over two decades between the two companies. The Mora Training knife was one of the first products available from the Woodlore online shop. A range of the knives are still sold as well as being used and recommended on our courses today.

With an almost identical build to that of the popular Morakniv Companion MG Knife, this Heavy Duty model benefits from a considerably thicker blade, measuring 3.2 mm in width. Made from carbon steel, this improvement brings the knife in line with more expensive models on the market, and results in a more robust knife that will withstand harder use.

This Heavy Duty version of the Companion Knife is an excellent knife to use whilst learning basic bushcraft techniques (being sturdy enough to withstand harsh treatment), while still being of a high enough quality to use once you are more proficient in knife work.

The Companion Heavy Duty Knife features a half tang, moulded into an extra large ergonomic handle with a soft, high-friction grip; both the handle and sheath have been made in the distinctive Mora military green colour-scheme. The classic scandi grind carbon steel blade allows for easy sharpening, while the wider bevel angle of 27° gives extra strength for tasks such as batoning.

The sheath is made from tough plastic and will attach comfortably to most belt widths. It includes Mora's trusty thumb-push feature, which makes it easier to draw the knife with one hand. The internal Knife Retaining System inside the sheath has also been improved, resulting in a better fit between knife and sheath, making for added safety.

Overall, the Companion Heavy Duty MG Knife is a fantastically strong and well-designed tool for all-round outdoor and bushcraft use, at a great price.

I have wanted a mora knife for some time, I thought the 40th anniversary edition would be a good choice. Extremely well made for the price. Nice robust sheath with a little knob to push against when withdrawing your knife. Nice edge on the blade.

As a knife, it is great. I have quite a few morakniv knives that serve different purposes depending on what I am doing, and they are ideal for most tasks. I purchased the 40th anniversary version of the companion HD to go with my woodlore collection. However, I was quite disappointed in the etching on this knife as it is very faint and can barely be seen. In comparison to my 30th anniversary example, the quality of the etching has declined since, hence the four stars. If you are looking to purchase an inexpensive knife to use, then this is a perfect option. However, the special addition knives are clearly aimed at the collector's market, and more consideration needs to be taken into account relating to the artwork.

Very happy with these two limited edition 40 years of Woodlore Moras. They are being put away for both my boys for when they are older. The knife feels well balanced and the Woodlore emblem is well defined.
