Seems good so far (real test later in the year). Size was exactly what I wanted.

Good product if you are going out into deep cold. I was somewhat sceptical that they would cope as an outer layer but they do the job. A few too many pockets for my organisational ability. You can have the curse of too many pockets and spend your day patting yourself down for this and that. The inner material is a terry towelling like material and does insulate really well. Together with one or two underlayers on the legs is as effective or more than salopettes. Breathability is good and I did not sweat up too much. The higher back is welcome although I do not carry much heft around the middle so the back can gape a bit as it sits above the belt line. It may or may not have worked better with braces like a salopette. Would possibly have liked it in a non olive drab colour. You can start looking a little too warry and you look a bit odd in some countries/ airports if you appear too military even if the goal is to hang out in the woods. But that is just my take on it. So all good apart from the flappy back but might suit a fuller figure?

Perfect for walking and gardening in cold Devon. I like the Swedish brand Fjallraven, durable clothing, and masters in winter clothing.

The Fjallraven Brenner Pro Winter trousers are simply superb. The lining is extremely comfortable on its own and not restrictive. I wore these trousers in the Arctic this year with a 200g Woolpower Long John and they were awesome all the way down to -30 and below. They are very well made and quiet to walk around in. I particularly liked the hook and loop straps at the end of each leg as a fastener to prevent the ingress of snow. They straight away became my go-to Autumn/Winter trouser and I'm sure I will have them for many years if I look after them. The large pockets on the legs are ideal and smaller pockets allow for easy access to multi tools or other EDC items. The belt loops are well positioned and offer optimal position(s) to secure a knife/multitool to ones belt without excessive movement (sliding). The price may deter some, but I believe these trousers are well worth the money. I will be only too happy to pick up another pair in the future when the time comes. I'd have another set for my deployment kit if only I could find them in black.
