The Swazi AEGIS Kagoule is made from a 3-layer AEGIS® knit fabric which is soft, light, very quiet and of course, very waterproof. This shorter length jacket is an ideal alternative to the full length Swazi/Ray Mears AEGIS Tahr XP Anorak.

A windproof, waterproof and breathable membrane, AEGIS is in fact the most breathable fabric ever incorporated into Swazi garments. The three-layered fabric provides absolute protection from rain, snow and wind, and has been proven in independent tests to be every bit as waterproof and windproof as their old fabrics. What these tests also showed was enhanced breathability, a factor so important in any waterproof garment. As always, the Kagoule remains soft, light, incredibly quiet and unbelievably comfortable.

We spent two years developing face fabrics and testing laminates. Once we were sure we had the fabrics and membrane right, we built some test garments and supplied these to our Swazi Test Pilots around the world. The feedback was amazing. 100% satisfaction. Features amazing freedom of movement, chest pocket with rivetted radio antenna easement channeled through the rubber chest label, plus has an opening within the jacket to allow microphone access. These two features are excellent for radio contact with hunting companions or monitoring a hunting dog’s position. Top opening pocket with large handwarmer pocket on the sides, and of course, the legendary Swazi high periphery vision hood.

I normally buy 'large' outer garments, but this medium sizing was good for me, 5'9' with 41' chest. I've had it a year; not used it much. Water still beads on the outer surface. Good, as once a garment loses its DWR, and 'wets out' in moderate to heavy rain, sweat vapour cannot transmit through the garment to the outside, and condensation forms on the inner surface. I've bought several jackets that have 'gone this way!'. I hope I don't have to reproof this jacket with DWR in the future, as I've found the DWR just rinses off the next time you go out in the rain! Anyway so far, so good, with a 'different' almost brushed cotton outer texture.

Love this Smock. Very well thought out design. I originally ordered the XL which is what I would usually get in outdoor/mountaineering kit to accommodate base/mid layers but it was huge (very generous cut). Woodlore exchanged immediately for a large which is perfect, I can even get a thick down jacket underneath. Special mention to Diana and team at Woodlore for outstanding service, prior to this purchase I have only bought a Gransfors Bruks axe from Woodlore but that will now change. I will heartily recommend the Woodlore shop to anyone who can endure me rabbiting on about my new Swazi smock. Andy Field

Great length and very effective fabric make this an extremely useful garment. It is, if you like, the Swazi top that doesn't make you look like Friar Tuck! The cuffs, hood and pockets are all first rate in terms of size and position. I suppose if I had any reservations, it would be about the relative stiffness of the fabric; that said, this is an anorak that is going to last a very, very long time, so... Superb service from Woodlore, as ever - many thanks!
