Gransfors Bruks Small Carving Hatchet

  Outstanding quality and efficient service. I own several Gränsfors Bruk axes, which are all high-quality and the small carving hatchet is no exception. It has a short 26cm handle, which is hand carved and very comfortable, particularly if using it for an extended period, which is also aided by its light weight, at only 300g, making it ideal for small and intricate carving work. It arrived razor sharp, with a leather sheath and booklet, the day after I ordered it, great Woodlore service. The booklet is interesting because it gives information on the history of the company and the other axes and even lets you see which worker made your axe, as their initials are stamped on the head. Great product.

  My first Gransfors, after years of Elwells and Gilpins, Bahcos and others.. A beautiful, tiny hatchet. I bought it for a couple of jobs, carving and hunting. It's small enough to carry in my game bag without knowing it's there, and it's perfect for use as a priest and for chopping rabbit legs which will spoil a knife. I have re-shaped the bulbous end of the beech handle and will continue to do so until it's a perfect fit for my hand. The blade is about 3 degrees out of line with the handle which is fine and helps with carving - luckily I'm right handed. On such a tiny forged head I would be surprised if it were any closer to in-line. It came shaving sharp. Altogether, very happy. It was the last one available in the country, so I was glad to get it.
