The Snugpak Special Forces Bivvi Bag WGTE is a tough, lightweight and 100% waterproof cover for you and your sleeping bag, designed for use when sleeping without a tent. This particular 'Extra Long' model has enough space to comfortably accommodate your boots or other items of kit in the foot area of the bag, keeping them protected from the elements while you sleep.

This is a hard-working bivi bag, offering reliable protection from wind and rain, and its low weight and small pack size make it ideal for keeping in your rucksack as part of your emergency overnight kit. One of our favourite features of this bag is its central zip design, which makes it perfect for use with the entire range of Ray Mears sleeping bags.

The outer fabric of the Special Forces Bivvi Bag has been given a Durable Water Repellent treatment for extra weather protection. This finish can be maintained by placing the bag on a cool tumble dry cycle after washing, and periodic retreatment with a suitable aftercare product such as Nikwax. It is important to note that care should be taken not to completely seal any bivi bag, to prevent suffocation.

This mummy style bivvi bag compliments the dos bag perfectly, although it is not made from gore-tex there was no condensation in it and the dos bag was dry after a three-night subzero session. As with all these products though a slightly thicker more durable layer on the bottom would make it perfect (as the sleeping mat gets slipped inside to prevent slipping off it in the night).

First off the good : the bivvy bag is light and packs down very small, so you will hardly notice it in your rucksack, despite its roomy size. The waterproofness might be good, unfortunately this hasn't stopped my sleeping bag getting soaked from condensation the times I have used it in the Scottish hills in winter conditions. Good for emergencies-I won't be relying on it for everyday use due to this lack of breathability.

A well made product, does what it says, keeps you dry and aids sleep outside. Used with a tarp it's ideal.
