Suunto MC-2 G Mirror Compass

  Suunto MC-2 G compass was delivered quickly and is of the expected quality, I have not used it a great deal as of yet but I am looking forward to it hopefully giving me many years of service, many thanks.

  Absolutely awesome compass for the price. I’m a Silva compass guy but bought this for a change and I’ve got to say I’m very impressed with it and so very happy with this product so well done Suunto on making a wonderful compass. The night glow on it lasts for ages after a couple minutes of light on it. Well Done. If you are thinking about getting this compass all I can say is do it as you will be very impressed with it.

  Excellent compass. As a geologist, I've used this type of compass all over the world. Robust, long lasting, accurate.

  A high quality base plate compass with all the features anyone could realistically want. The mirror sighting is great it has a good visible mirror, notch and hole. The clinometer is smooth and accurate and is a nice feature to have. Easy set and forget Declination correction, Grid Magnetic Angle, global needle. My only quibble so far is that the orienting lines are cut short due to the black Suunto logo, this is annoying as these lines should be as long and clear as possible to aid accuracy. All in all a solid compass that does everything it should well but probably well over spec for most people. If you only want something for UK navigation I'd take a look at Silva expedition 4 and the like. If you want something high quality, that will work anywhere, let you take super accurate bearings with slope readings and not have to deal with magnetic variation calculations then the Suunto MC-2 G Mirror is certainly a compass you should look at.

  After lots of research and reviews, I picked this over the Silva range for the Global Needle and multiple compasses which would come into the same price range. It arrived extremely quickly, weeks before some other items ordered on the same day saying dispatched. Due to the tier system after the second lockdown it is now going to be after Christmas before I get back out on the paths with the rucksack. I have taken this on a few day walks to play around with and works as described. excellent product.

  I bought this for my keen hiking husband whose last compass had died a death. He was very pleased with it and all the extra things on it that he didn't have on his last one. Yet to be put to use, but so far all is good.
