The Swanndri Mosgiel 100% Wool Bushshirt is a thick, durable and long woollen jacket with a full-length zip. It is an ideal garment for working in the outdoors in the cold, providing protection from the wind and rain, and is a personal favourite of Ray Mears'.
The Mosgiel Bushshirt features a strong, 100% wool outer, providing not only protection from snags and brambles, but also resistance from wind and rain. A softer, more comfortable Wool Rich Lining is fitted to the inside of the jacket. As a woollen garment, the Mosgiel is of course resistant to embers from the campfire, and is suitably quiet for use in the woods.
The Mosgiel is fitted with a full-length, two-way zip, enabling you to manage your temperature more easily. The outsized collar can be worn up or down depending on the weather, and is complemented with a detachable, adjustable woollen hood. The cuffs are buttoned and adjustable, while two hand pockets and a single chest pocket are included.
In 1913, New Zealand tailor William Broome, frustrated by the country's incessant rain, developed a work shirt with a secret waterproofing. The shirt, made from 100% pure New Zealand wool, was fabled for its durability and practicality, quickly becoming the clothing choice of pioneering New Zealanders the length and breadth of the country, its unsurpassed fabric keeping them warm and dry in the winter and cool in the summer. William named the shirt the Swanndri, due to the way that water ran off the wearer's back. To this day, the original design remains unchanged and is as relevant to today's outdoorsmen and women as it was almost one hundred years ago.
