  I love this garment, it is extremely warm and something I will probably have for the rest of my life. That being said, it has not proven to be the most practical of garments. It’s big and it’s heavy. I only ever see myself using this when the weather is atrocious and I’ll be wearing it at all times, and not try to pack it away. Walking any distance in it, with a few layers on and the temp. around 5 degrees C and I’ll be sweating buckets, and it’s too big to pack away. I prefer this full zip version to the overhead version which a friend owns, this is much easier to get on, has a big stand up collar, the hood is detachable and has hip pockets, none of which the other version has. One flaw in the garment which doesn’t make sense to me, Swanndri makes a point of noting that the shirt is lined with a finer, softer wool and it is, but only the main body. The sleeves are unlined, and the heavier wool is very coarse against the skin. If you’re going to have bare skin in contact with it, it’ll be because you have short sleeves on, so the sleeves should too be lined, not the body. So great for time spent static around camp, vehicle assisted camps, birdwatching etc, not great for hiking, wild or minimalist camping in my honest opinion.

  Great warm jacket. Order a size smaller, dont go by sizes on chart or you be sending back. My chest is 41 inches and medium was perfect and has some room for layering.

  Really good, I haven't put it through its paces yet. Its been out in some cold wind, that's where the high collar comes in along with the hood of course. It's quite a warm coat which has not used in the rain but I have tried it in the snow for a couple of hours and I was dry afterwards. It's quite long on me, it comes down to my knees, I'm 5 foot 5 inches. It reminds me of a first world war trench coat, and is a really good Woolly coat. Being wool it is very breathable, there are hand warming pockets and an inside pocket for your phone as well as a breast pocket the two way zip. All in all it's an awesome coat but I don't know why they call it a shirt. Someone said you couldn't wear it in the street in town but I don't see why not, have you seen what some people wear out.

  Simply the best comfort and protection in the worst weather and I have tried many others. On my 3rd one now due to bodily expansion but this is the best all rounder coat by far. If you don't believe reviews just check out how long a second hand Mosgiel stays on Ebay for... don't blink!

  Overall, a high quality, durable product. I had an issue with the zip where it detached itself. This was quickly resolved by Ray Mears Bushcraft. Fantastic service.

  Got this for working in the allotment over winter. It’s tough and warm enough for the farmers back home so totally able to cope in the allotment. Think of it as the New Zealand equivalent of a waxed jacket. Service was great and arrived wrapped well and on time. I went for the full zipped option over the bush shirt to enable me to vary my temperature which proved a good idea. A true New Zealand classic, and you can’t go wrong.

  Bought as a birthday gift for my husband. He has wanted one for a while and he loves it. He’s a gamekeeper and this keeps him warm and dry and doesn’t make any noise. I was a bit worried about the size. I wasn’t sure if I should get large or extra large. The extra large is quite big but I think the large would of only just fit him.

  I have been a user of Swanndri for some years now, a Ranger shirt now worn in the garden with the Swanndri bucket hat which have never let in the rain. I find that the length, provides the right amount of protection without becoming an encumbrance, the full length zip providing the ability to regulate warmth. All in all a very useful piece of kit.
