Travelling Light
Once the skills of Bushcraft are embedded in your mindset, their application on any journey becomes an almost unconscious component. Liberating and empowering, this way of travelling insists that you notice and work with your environment.
Reading nature's signs to aid navigation and decision making; to predict the conditions ahead and prepare to meet them, you will begin to appreciate the true potential of your skills. Move away from the base camp and experience Bushcraft in its true light: as an enabler for those who wish to experience wild places.
Further Information
The skills that we learn during our study of bushcraft are simply the stepping stones to adventure; they enable us to visit and travel in the natural world whilst minimising burden. Put simply, they make bush life easier. Learning these skills also changes your mindset. For instance, should you need to quickly tie something together temporarily, swiftly pulling a length of bark from a willow wand becomes easier than finding a length of string in your rucksack. It ceases to be a novelty.
One of the twelve 'Woodlores' states to 'maximise efficiency whilst minimising effort.' This course promotes that mindset by us making a journey on foot together through beautiful landscape where Bushcraft is the most efficient solution.
Travelling light frees you to go further with less effort and allows you a much greater enjoyment of your journey. No-one enjoys being a beast of burden!
