For your chance to win an exclusive one-day Bushcraft course in the UK led by Ray Mears himself, please enter the following competition with 5.11 Tactical:

Woodlore, School of Wilderness Buchcraft was founded in 1983, by the British Bushcraft and survival expert Ray Mears. Woodlore began as a relatively unknown company, offering a small selection of courses on bushcraft techniques. With Ray's ambition and perserverance, Woodlore has since grown into a world-renowned and highly respected school, offering in-depth courses on a wide range of bushcraft and survival subjects. In addition to training, Woodlore now also provides some of the finest outdoors equipment from around the world, carefully selected on the basis of our extensive experience.

I would love to spend just one hour in the company of Ray. I watch his programmes when I am allowed!, I became disabled 25 years ago and was very active and I am still am a big wildlife and woodcraft fan. But due to my disability which is to do with my leg and foot sometimes find it difficult to do what I would like to do. I live in Norfolk which is full of wildlife and beautiful areas and I would just love to explore a little more and I think that with Rays help and guidance I would be able to do more and I could hopefully pass what I learn from Ray on to another generation my Grandson, it is so important that the skills and knowledge from our ancestors are not lost. I may be physically disabled but not in mind. It would mean alot to me to spend just a little bit of time and be able to speak to a man who holds the environment and it in habitents with the same respect as I believe in. If I don’t get the chance great show and keep trying to get the all important message out there Ray. Tony Norfolk.

I would love to learn some new bushcraft skills from Ray so I can pass them on to my son and wife.

It makes a change to see someone like Ray giving advice on the countryside, unlike all the ex special forces experts we see, (some of whom I have been trained by)I was brought up with the likes of ‘Out of Towns’ Jack Hargreaves. It would be facinating to spend a day with Ray, just to enjoy what many of us just walk by without noticing. My wife thinks he’s great!

What a pity! I´m an inhabitant of Germany and not allowed to enter the competition. Ray Mears is not that well known in Germany but I found some of his DVD´s by chance. As a biology teacher I must say that I really enjoyed an d learnd something from the show. Especially Wild Food Britain. It changed my view.
Thank you Mr. Mears

After many family deaths including the recent loss of a brother i was slowly withdrew from the world. i feel watching ray and reading his books has given me myself back, the outdoors truely is a healer and i thank you ray for understanding that. in a world that seems to be driven by money ray has given back to many, teaching us to appreciate our surroundings to take care of our fragile world and preserve not only that but the teachings of our ancestors also.
Ray, thank you

It’s my husband’s 40th birthday next May. He works hard, is a great Dad to two young children but on top of that volunteers for the local scout group, teaching them canoeing (very patiently I must say!), and loves all things bushcraft – I constantly find him with his head in a bushcraft book and this prize would make his birthday – what else can I say?!

Hi,I long to get out in the real world for a while and glimpse it through Ray’s eyes. As a child nature was my joy yet I felt as though there was too much to know for me to ever begin doing bushcraft. Years later I am still only playing on the edges, devouring Ray’s programmes, reading books, waiting for the opportunity to fall in completely and inspire those around me to follow. Whoever gets the chance will be very lucky, Sincerely Andrea

Spending the day with Ray would be mind blowing. Having watched him on tv and reading some of his books, having the chance to get real hands on experience with the master would be a dream come true. we spend so much of our time at work and in doors, seeing the world from a different angle and live of the land makes life more rewarding.

I knew Ray as a friend some years ago, and would love the opportunity to re-new that friendship. We spent many happy hours together, on courses and at home. My daughter Odette would benefit from contact with Ray, as my son Alex did so many years ago, learning a love and respect for the natural world, and gaining a confidence and self-reliant attitude along the way. Ray loves to pass on his skills, and loves nothing better than a good story around a campfire, and if there’s music too…. he’s in Woodlore heaven!!!

Ray has been my inspiration, through his diligent observations, patience, teachings and appreciation for local knowledge, coupled with his rich sense of humour. He is the Master Woodsman, who has learnt to live in harmony with nature, not fighting it or trying to impress by overcoming hostile conditions. Neither does he ever suggest that women are less able to cope, but instead he sees their strengths and contributions in wilderness situations. To spend a day in his company would be the most amazing and unforgettable experience and a great honour.

To meet Ray in person would be fantastic. He has such a wealth of experience across the globe, and I would imagine there is no end to the stories he could tell. It would be fantastic to learn from such a world renowned bushcrafter, even for a day. Love his outlook on life and his ideas of our relationship with the natural world. What a super prize this would be.

I would really like to spend the day with one of true last woodsmen of the country, who took it ipon homself to learn the skills and awareness that is needed to co exist not pnly in the uk but around the world. A day with Ray would be great, the skills/info gained from him would be past to my son keeping the knowledge alive for other generations !

Hi,
i would love to go bushcrafting with Ray. Not only for the skills he may be able to pass on, but also to see the man who takes pride in his work and seems to strive for perfection, all while staying in a zen like relaxed way.
