Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap – A Cure for PUPPPs?

PUPPPs, a little-known skin condition which can affect mothers during the late stages of pregnancy, is in fact the most common rash found in pregnant women. However, despite affecting 1 in every 200 first-time mothers on average, there is currently no known cure.

Short for pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy, the foremost symptom of PUPPPs is a redness which begins on the abdomen, often spreading to the legs, feet, arms, chest and face. This rash is linked with severe itching which, while presenting no long-term risk for either the mother or baby, can be unbearable for the mother.
