Camping Gear Essentials
At Woodlore we often hear from parents who are equipping their children for their first camping trips, often with the Scouts or the Guides. Here we have compiled a basic list of camping essentials that can be obtained directly from the Woodlore online shop. The list is based upon various camping kit lists provided to Scouts and Guide by their troop leaders.
- Sleeping Bag
A good quality sleeping bag is a must when sleeping out or in a tent. Our Woodlore Sleeping Bags are some of the best you will find. - Pillow
A comfortable pillow can really make a difference when camping, particularly if you are new to sleeping out. Our Therm-A-Rest Trekker Pillow Case enables you to create a comfortable pillow using your spare clothes. - Cooking Equipment
One of the fun aspects of camping out is cooking your food, often on an open fire. To do this you will need some Billy Cans and maybe a Tripod. - Outdoor Clothing and Wet Weather Gear
With the right outdoor clothing you could go camping almost anywhere at almost any time of year. At the very least you will need some good, strong socks, long trousers (preferably not jeans), a shirt, possibly a sweater and a waterproof. Our range of Outdoor Clothing includes hooded shirts, Woodlore t-shirts and even the bandana often worn by Ray himself. - Tent
If you are planning your own camping trip you will need some form of shelter. While a Waterproof Hootchie or Flysheet might be adequate for many conditions a proper tent will provide better protection from the elements. Our Hilleberg Akto Tent is absolutely ideal for those solo backpacking and camping expeditions.
