As used by Ray Mears for many years (see the above video for an example), Ice Bear's traditional Japanese waterstones offer unrivalled quality for the sharpening of knives, axes and other tools. With numerous waterstones on the market today, each varying greatly in coarseness, it can be difficult deciding which grits to choose. However, with this sharpening set, Ice Bear have put together their most fundamental products in one handy kit. There is quite simply no better set for someone sharpening with waterstones for the first time.

  • 800 grit stone for initial grinding
  • 6,000 grit stone for fine finishing
  • Non-skid waterstone holder
  • Nagura stone for cleaning the glazed surface of the fine stone

Great set. I recently bought a cheapish bushcraft knife and the blade had been hollow ground. I wanted a scandi grind so used this set to reprofile the blade. It was a pleasure to use and did a great job. As always, the item was delivered fast and was well packed. Woodlore is usually one of the cheapest suppliers and always have the best customer service. First of all thank you Woodlore for a 1st class service, prompt delivery and no fuss as ever! I have always used oil stones until now, I must say I wont be using them again, I was very impressed with the edge these water stones gave, a dream to use suplimented with the 1200 grit. The stone holder is also very functional and very resistant to slipping. Every edge I own is now like a razor!
