In this exclusive international collaboration, Ray Mears and the Woodlore Team have joined forces with a traditional, independent manufacturer in Namibia to bring you two classicly-styled travel holdalls. The model featured here -
the Impala - is the smaller of the two, with the Oryx Holdall being its larger counterpart. Taking its name from the small antelope species found in the savannas of Africa, the Impala is the perfect holdall for those heading out on shorter adventures or long weekend breaks, having a volume of around 65 litres.
Ray Mears first became aware of these holdalls on a trip to Namibia in the late 1990s, and since then Ray has travelled the world with his trusty holdall in tow. As any follower of Ray's travels will know, it is a mark of their exceptional build quality in that this original holdall is still going strong, despite the relentlessly tough use Ray puts it through. For this reason, it is Ray's holdall of choice when travelling, as he knows it won't let him down.
Made from rugged, water-resistant canvas and finished with heavy-duty YKK zips and reinforced stitching, this holdall will last you a lifetime of adventures. The spacious main compartment, complete with its extra-wide dual-zip opening, makes this holdall easy to live out of on extended trips. Two roomy end pockets help you keep your clothing and equipment separated, while two slim external document pockets and two internal mesh pockets help you to keep your valuables, wash kit and paperwork safely organised.
While not essential, it doesn't hurt to have a good-looking holdall too. Woodlore have chosen a natural, muted olive green colour for the Impala, with complimenting olive green webbing straps. The Ray Mears 'Snowshoe' logo is embroidered onto one end pocket, while 'Made in Namibia' is proudly stitched onto the other end. The understated and classic design of this holdall evokes a sense of timeless adventure, which will only improve with each journey.
