The Fjällraven company had its humble beginnings back in 1960, running from a small basement in the town of Örnsköldsvik. Equipped with little more than his mother's sewing machine, founder Åke Nordin began producing garments tough enough to withstand the long, demanding winters of Northern Sweden. Ever since, Fjällraven has continued with this quest, earning the reputation of a company reliable for making functional, hard-wearing outdoor clothing.

These Karl Trousers form part of Fjällraven's 'Trekking' range, and are one of their most popular models. They offer a quieter, lighter and lower-waisted alternative to other Fjällraven models, such as the Forester or Barents. A 'performance cut' and pre-shaped knees all help to add freedom of movement when you're on the move, making these trousers perfect for hill-walking. The legs are provided in raw length, meaning that they can be cut and adjusted to your exact requirements. The Fjällraven logo is sewn onto the right leg pocket.

While the Barents Trousers are made from Fjällraven's G-1000 material, the Karls are made in G-1000 Silent; a brushed version of the original fabric which is soft and quiet. This fabric creates clothing which does not rustle, making it practical for hunting, stalking and game preservation. It is also well-suited for clothing that will be worn as much at work as in wild terrain. Just like original G-1000, the Silent version is still windproof, hard-wearing, and water-resistant thanks to a Greenland Wax impregnation; the fabric also helps to wick moisture away from the body.
