Because of the long wait for the Woodlore Knife, we recently made the decision to have an alternative knife produced exclusively for Woodlore. The Ray Mears Bushcraft Knife is based very closely on the design of the Woodlore Knife, and is hand-made from start to finish by British knife-maker Stephen Wade Cox. This knife is delivered to us in small, regular batches throughout the year, and is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Woodlore Knife: The Woodlore Knife was originally designed by Ray Mears and is hand-made by British knife maker Alan Wood. A good quality knife is perhaps one of the most important items to have in your rucksack.
Ray had used many different types of knives before, all of which proved unsuitable for bushcraft. So, over a period of six years, he designed one which would meet all of his demands. He has now been using this knife for well over a decade.
It is expertly crafted from O1 High Carbon Tool Steel, which is strong, sharpens to a very fine edge, and has a full tang sculpted scale handle in birds eye maple.
This knife comes complete with a Hand-Stitched Leather Neck Sheath, which has an integral sleeve to house a Fire Stick.
A Belt Sheath is also available at the time of purchase.
Details:
- Blade length: 11 cm
- Hardness: RC-59
NOT AVAILABLE TO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18.

There are three items of kit that, to me, have become the very symbols of adventure, exploration, the great outdoors, the wilderness, the woods, and the expedition. These are:
My Woodlore Knife, Ray Mears Leather Belt Pouch and a Traser Military Watch.
I've used the Woodlore Knife for a number of years. It is the finest knife I have ever owned. It is a true wilderness knife, equally at home in the woods of Britain, the African bush or the wilds of America. It is easily capable of splitting pine logs as thick as your forearm, to making fine wood shavings to help build a roaring fire, or slicing onions or potatoes ("Grandpa" would've probably used it to shave with!).
The Woodlore Knife was designed by an absolute perfectionist. Hand made by a fine master craftsman..... all for us folk that want only.... the very finest.

To the best of our knowledge, all kit specifications are accurate, although these can vary at times. We aim to dispatch all orders by the next working day.
