This spring/summer/autumn sleeping bag has been designed by Ray Mears and made by Nanok of Norway, to suit our needs, rather than relying on seasonal ratings from manufacturers who have little to no personal experience of true extreme conditions.
The Woodlore Osprey sleeping bag has been designed for use in the summer months and the more temperate regions. Like all of the Woodlore bags, the Osprey has been tried and tested for nearly a decade in various locations, and remains the 3-season bag of choice for both Ray and the Woodlore Outdoor Team.
In order to be as thermally efficient as possible, the Osprey has a tapered Mummy shape, keeping unused 'dead-space' to a minimum. Unlike nearly all other bags on the market today, Ray Mears Sleeping Bags feature a central zip, accessible from both inside and out. Aside from the obvious benefit of making it easier to get in and out of the bag comfortably, the central zip also allows you to sit partially out of the bag while keeping your lower half still concealed; making getting dressed a much warmer affair! A full-length fabric panel conceals the zip from the inside, eliminating any possible heat loss from direct contact with your body.
Woodlore Sleeping Bags are manufactured utilising the most up-to-date man-made fibres. The shell and lining of the bag are made from Rip-stop Nylon, while the inner is a Tri-blend of polyester hollowfibre, completely free of any glue or binder fibres. This method helps eliminate un-evenness in the filling, which can cause 'cold spots' in parts of the bag.
The Osprey features a full-size hood with internal drawstrings to help create as snug a fit as possible. An additional fibre-filled panel runs horizontally across the inside of the hood, providing support and comfort for your neck.
Another feature rarely seen on other bags is the addition of two inner mesh pockets, placed either side of the central zip on the chest area. Seen in the photo above, these zippered pockets are ideal for keeping your valuables safe, hidden and protected from the elements. Ideal for cash, credit cards, keys, phones, iPods etc.
The Osprey comes with its own stuff sack (seen above), complete with four one-way compression straps, a fabric tongue on the opening and a tough drawstring. As the name suggests, the bag is best packed when simply stuffed randomly into the sack, rather than rolled, making packing easier. The Woodlore logo is proudly shown on the foot of both the stuff sack and the sleeping bag itself.

I took my Osprey bag on a camping trip this year, and it was a luxury to go back to at the end of the day. A snug fit without being claustrophobic, and the inner pockets were perfect for hiding my valuables in.
Slightly larger pack size than other bags, but so worth it for the warmth and comfort.
