Due to the continuing poor exchange rate, the Tahr should retail at a far higher price. Woodlore is still not passing this full cost onto our customers. It is for this same reason that many other UK retailers no longer stock Swazi products. As many viewers have noticed, Ray has worn his Swazi Tahr Anorak for many years, whilst filming in some of the World’s most extreme locations. The Tahr has undoubtedly become Ray’s favourite item of clothing, and we’re certain it will become yours too! Swazi say they make "the World’s most durable outdoor clothing" - quite a statement, and one which Ray was definitely up for testing! After taking it on a number of expeditions, Ray felt it was time to work closely with Swazi to produce a new version of the Tahr Anorak, exclusive to Woodlore. Both Ray and Woodlore worked with the Swazi staff to create the elite Swazi/Ray Mears Tahr Anorak; incorporating new features while keeping those that make the Tahr the tough and reliable garment Ray has come to trust. The Tahr Anorak is a durable, guaranteed-waterproof jacket made from a three-layer GORE-TEX fabric called Norton. This fabric is a tri-laminate construction (woven polyester face-fabric, flannel liner, GORE-TEX membrane between). Norton is soft, incredibly quiet and unbelievably comfortable to wear. Being a GORE-TEX fabric, it is of course windproof, waterproof and extremely breathable, making it ideal for UK outdoor activities like stalking, fishing, canoeing, hunting and walking. The Tahr comes with a modified, two-tier, high peripheral-vision hood. The inner conforms to the contours of your face, while the outer protrudes into an adjustable peak, stiffened with a durable liner and concealed wire-lined frame. GORE-TEX stretch cuffs designed especially to keep icy water at bay complete this most durable piece of outdoor clothing.Tahr Anorak features exclusive to Woodlore:
Two large chest pockets with drain holes, each big enough for binoculars Elasticated bullet loops within pocket New improved Velcro flap design: double flap system with gutter, to prevent water leakage from entering through the zip RM logo on right chest pocket Roomier stretch cuffs Longer draw-cord on waist for a more snug fit
Colour: Tussock
Sizing: To choose a size according to your chest measurements, please select from the drop-down menu below. The actual garment dimensions are shown for your information in the sizing chart above. GORE-TEX performs at its best when it is cleaned and cared for regularly. Please read all attached product labels. While GORE-TEX is perfect for use in extreme outdoor conditions, it is not indestructible - it can puncture, so care should always be taken around fires, thorns, brambles etc. Woodlore recommends Nikwax Tech Wash and Nikwax TX. Direct for care of this garment. More information on the Swazi Clothing company can be found in our Meet The Suppliers section. More information on the properties of GORE-TEX clothing can be found in our Bushcraft Tips and Advice section.

Look past the cost first of all and read the reviews on this Anorak. The quality and feel of the Anorak from taking it out of the packaging and for the first time you wear it made me realise what a piece of quality kit I had bought. I wear mine for the Beach walks and for everything in between now the rain just has no effect to the warmth my body retains when wearing a light piece of warm clothing underneath it. If your serious about travelling by foot and staying dry then this is certainly what you are looking for. I actually look forward to it raining just so I can wear it out definitely getting my moneys worth.

As with other reviews i have also been putting off buying a tahr due to its price tag...BUT you soon understand that it is very well manufactured & it is SO worth buying, im 6ft 2" and have not found a single jacket with a high enough collar to cover my chin mouth and nose and keep my backside and upper legs dry all at the same time!
I have yet to become cold or hot, strange as it seems my body temperature is always comfortable, obviously good undergarments are required.
the hood is fantastic and no chance of getting a face full of rain with the bendy wire running around the rim of the hood.
O and nice touch with the double velcro's around the neck area, when not in use they double back on them selves and stops the spikey side of the velcro slowly scrapping your chin off.
The tahr is also very quiet and extreamly light!
I can recommend this Anorak to anyone who wishes to stay dry even in the most awful of conditions.
Its a pleasure to where one!

I had been considering buying one of these for months, now I have my only regret is I didn't buy it sooner, many a miserable, wet and cold day here in Scotland could have been avoided if I had. What can I say? This is simply the best outdoor jacket or any item of outdoor clothing I have ever owned and I can fully understand why it is Ray's favourite, so if you are like me and you've been considering getting one dont delay hit BUY now you won't regret it.

I've been after one of these for a few years now and the only thing putting me off was the price. I was looking for a jacket which was around a 3/4 length to stop air traveling up the back of the jacket which is a problem I find with most jackets on the market these days. Especially when moving around and crouching which when photographing wildlife is something I do a lot! I decided to bite the bullet last week and ordered one of these. I put it to the test while camping in the New Forest the following weekend and I was amazed with it instantly. It's very warm and comfortable to wear. Sitting still in heavy rain is never much fun, but this jacket actually adds some happiness to this experience. The long design of the coat allows more of your lower body to remain dry and warm and with the addition of a pair of gaiters it provides almost full body cover. Though it does not pack as small as other weather proof jackets on the market, it does roll up into it's hood to make for easy packing. The pack size however is a welcome sacrifice for the amazing quality of this jacket. A nice touch I thought which just polished off the quality of this jacket was the personal "Crafted By" on the label inside.
Woodlore will always be my first port of call for outdoor gear.
Keep up the awesome work guys!

The Tahr anorak combines excellent protection from the elements with freedom of movement.
It is tough. After nearly two and a half years of regular use, mine shows no signs of deterioration. I almost invariably take it with me on woodland excursions. The breast pockets provide stowage for items like hat and gloves when not in use.

To the best of our knowledge, all kit specifications are accurate, although these can vary at times. We aim to dispatch all orders by the next working day.
