Absolutely amazing for your axe, it's so small, this is all you'll need in the bush to keep your axe in shape, unless you take out a large lump then you made need the file, but for me this is fantastic.

Been looking at getting one of these for a while but have been using my waterstones instead, using this makes it much easier and gets them sharper.

Got an axe so sharp shaved with it, try and do that with file from Screwfix.

Seems good easy to use, in a nice practical case, still learning to get the best edge on my axe with it, but this will come with practice.

This is a great sharpening stone. Pocket size and easy to use. It's useful for blade maintenance in the field or if a quick repair is needed. I may buy a second one at some point.

This has proved to be the perfect kit bag item for keeping an edge on my Gransfors Bruks axe whilst on the move.

I had cause to use this stone on my brand new small forest axe after chipping the cutting edge slightly on a stone in my carving block. I used this stone to follow up a bahco bastard cut file and got great results right away with not too much previous experience. My axe is now cleanly slicing thin paper and feels sharper and with a finer finish on the bevel than when delivered. The stone doesn't require pre-soaking and is ready to go with a quick dip in water (as demonstrated to me by Ray Mears on an experience day).

A good quality double sided sharpening/grinding stone. I particularly like the way it fits in the hand and comfortable to use. As always from Gransfors, it's not cheap but I believe worth it.

I used only once, for my Gransfors Bruks Small Splitting Axe and no complaints! One side is a very fine stone.

Just right for carry and the rubber case makes for a sure grip.

I like the innovative storage of the stone in two rubber caps. Used it to sharpen my Ray Mears splitting axe. I used it dry but might be better to use wet, no supplied instructions.

After using my axe for some time I dulled the edge as you might expect. I used the Gransfors stone that I purchased with it and it came back to razor sharp again without too much effort. I have also used it to bring an edge back on a kitchen knife. It is an excellent stone and is small enough to carry in your pocket. I can recommend this sharpener wholeheartedly.

I have had one of these before and it doesn't seem to have changed, but then it didn't need to, it does what it is supposed to do! Just concentrate on creating an even polish/edge. (I find holding the axe still and moving the stone the best method).

Very easy to use. Its simple and compact design makes it very easy to carry and store away.

Don't think this is the same stone you can find elsewhere...it's better. This one says Fine and Coarse but will most likely be finer on both sides than the coarse and medium round stones a lot of people are used to. This stone is great for getting the final edge you want on your axes.

Pleased with this. Used dry and with some water to finish off an edge on an axe - and no doubt will work well with knives. Happy with it and like the rubber container it comes in; compact and holds the stone snugly in place when using it.

Great price, superb quality product, the rubber around the puck is super grippy which is perfect, as there is no chance of slipping out of your hand when using it. Arrived very quickly too - very impressed.

For a beginner in the art of competent sharpening of an axe, this was a daunting purchase.
I read the reviews and decided that this was a step I needed to take. The purchase as normal was easy and the dispatch prompt and to the usual high standard.
Whilst waiting for the order, I embarked on a YouTube how to video fest.
The Ray Mears and Gransfors tags got me to the relevant videos. The ease of use was excellent. Sure, I probably didn't use it correctly to begin with, but as with everything, perseverance paid off immensely and the results were very satisfying. I liked the compact size and the size in hand. All in all a very well designed bit of kit and definitely fit for purpose.

Excellent quality and consistency. I have bought a few of these from Woodlore, as they tend to end up highly valued presents on various travels. No surprise really. As well as sharpening axes, they`re perfect for sharpening knives, (or chisels etc.) in the field. The rubber casing keeps the stone firmly in place while sharpening. Delivery always unerringly quick and reliable.
