Redesigned for 2012, this third generation version of the now legendary Recon Jacket is Norrona's most durable and weather-protective shell jacket yet. Developed with the help of the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish Special Forces, the Recon range is truly at the top of its league as a waterproof, windproof and breathable outer shell.

Made using the latest 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro material, the Recon Jacket is ideal for use both in the UK and overseas, offering fantastic protection from wind, rain and snow. It comes highly recommended by Ray Mears and the Woodlore team after extensive use around the world, particularly in the Arctic wilderness where it has become our go-to jacket. The GORE-TEX membrane uses a woven liner to reduce weight and bulk, enhance moisture transport and minimise abrasion, all while maintaining durable waterproofness, making it the ultimate storm-protection fabric.

Designed for use in the areas of trekking, mountain hunting, forest hunting, expeditions, glacier walking, general outdoor pursuits and military use, the Recon Jacket is a truly versatile and heavy-duty outdoor jacket. Despite the excellent barrier it provides against the elements, the Recon Jacket is surprisingly lightweight, at just 740 g in size Large.

GORE-TEX performs at its best when it is cleaned and cared for regularly. Woodlore recommends Nikwax Tech Wash and Nikwax TX. Direct for care of this garment. I was sceptical about choosing an outdoor jacket and the price of the Norrona Recon Jacket was perhaps more than I was expecting to pay. But having recently purchased one last winter I can honestly say it’s a superb versatile jacket and one that I would strongly recommend purchasing. It’s all round reliability is excellent, windproof, waterproof, loads of pockets and dare I say from a female point of view even stylish. Excellent quality that will last for many year to come!
