Beyond The Cabins is the first in a series of artwork published by Woodlore in celebration of our planet's wilderness heritage. Its publication coincides with the 21st Anniversary of Woodlore's inauguration.

"Beyond the Cabins the forest emerges from the taint of human imposition. Here the snow lies deep and silent, a parchment of innocent white upon which is recorded the life and death dance of the Reindeer and the Lynx. Dependant upon, yet threatened by each other they live in a fatal harmony. But those are the rules the great spirit imposes. Here too are people, but here they live by the great spirits' rules as well, in the same instance a threat to the nature around them yet totally dependant upon it."

-- Ray Mears

About this limited edition:

This painting depicts a Sami Laavu that was pitched in Lappland wilderness during one of Woodlore's Arctic Experience courses. These traditional tents and variations of them were home to the nomadic hunter gatherers and reindeer herders of the Taiga forest. Sanctuaries that have remained little changed for millennia, and leave no more trace than the snow itself.

The original painting was recorded with a mixed medium of watercolours and inks in 2003. Every effort has been made to capture the original quality and tonal range in this limited edition print using the Giclée print process.

About the Artist - Adam Attew:

Born in 1974 Adam grew up in the hills of Surrey. A natural artist, he sketched and painted from the first moment he had control of his hands. With nature right on his doorstep it has greatly influenced his work. To date he works mainly in ink, watercolour and oil, but has also essayed in sculpture with clay and metal. Fascinated by the detail of nature's form and texture, he is inspired to capture our emotional response to the natural world.
