The Next Step

Woodlore Advanced Tracking with Ray Mears
Forty years ago, Ray began following the trails left behind by wild creatures across the countryside near to his home. Since then he has spent precious time with many indigenous peoples around the globe whose lives depend upon this ancient skill. This has enabled him to develop his ability to an extraordinary degree.

Ray and Woodlore are offering this truly unique advanced course, designed to take your tracking skills to a level that is rarely taught elsewhere. It will benefit anyone looking to further their skills in tracking and stalking wildlife as well as those involved in a profession which would benefit from tracking. It is the next exciting step for those who have attended our Woodlore Tracking/Woodsense course or our Woodlore African Tracking Courses.

The tracking standard and syllabus taught on this advanced course has never been taught by Ray or the rest of the Woodlore team to the general public before. Guided by Ray Mears, this is a very special opportunity to advance your tracking skills.

Topics covered on this advanced course will include:
  • Initial recap
  • Advanced tracking drills
  • Operating with a control team
  • Communication procedures
After an initial recap to tune in and refamiliarise with basic tracking drills you will start to tackle more difficult trails. All the time being tutored by Ray Mears. We will conclude the course with a challenging final exercise to put everything you have learnt to the test!

This course starts at 17:30 on Sunday and will finish at 16:00 on Saturday.

Catering
This course is self-catering, so please bring enough food for the duration of the course and a stove to cook it on. Many clients have found in the past, bringing a cool box is useful to keep all of your food inside.

We provide a kettle, tea, coffee, squash and biscuits in a brew box at the main camp fire of the course, under a large parachute.

We also have fresh drinking water and a fruit bowl available.

Course Site
The Advanced Tracking course will take place at an expedition style camp in East Sussex, close to East Grinstead. There is a shower/toilet block at this site.

There is also a car park at the course site where you your car will be kept during the course (if you bring one).

Other Details
Joining instructions will be sent to participants of the course 9 weeks before it is due to start, giving details of where to meet, at what time, and what to bring with you.
