Wilderness Emergency Medic level 3 (WEM3) 2011
Wilderness Emergency Medic, level 3 (WEM 3) represents the highest level of medical training available through Woodlore. WEM 3 is a 6 day course which can only be completed following the successful completion of the WEM 2 course. This allows like-minded individuals with a proven track record to develop their skills gained on the WEM 2 course. Like the WEM 2 course, WEM 3 is scenario-based but progresses from WEM 2 and entails participants learning and putting into practice more advanced techniques.Woodlore joined up with Fusion Medical Ltd to develop a unique series of courses aimed specifically at the wilderness traveler. WEM 3 in particular relies on Ray and the Woodlore team's experience of travelling in wild and remote areas. As a provider of First Aid training Fusion Medical Ltd brings expertise and a wealth of experience in pre-hospital care. The WEM 3 course accesses some of the more advanced techniques taught by Fusion Medical Ltd.
This course is designed for regular users of the outdoors, adventurers and those participating in expeditions in wild lands. The course will allow people who are already competent first aiders to develop their skills further in order to be able to cope with a range of serious medical emergencies in remote locations.
On successful completion of the WEM 3 course, candidates will be awarded the certificate of Wilderness Emergency Medic, level 3, issued by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Students of this course will be confident to deal with a number of advanced medical emergencies and conditions, even when a long way from outside assistance.
